I did suspect him at first because he broke all the rules of discovery as a police officer. Then he drifted out of my range for a very long time.If he hadn't been from the police, they may have interrogated him more, but the story picks up pace right away with other forensic considerations at the crime scene.
I didn't give Ray Powers a second thought. I figured he was a cop that needed a repeat course in crime scene preservation. I was quite surprised when he came back into the story.
I think the audio version helped give off a more cynical and arrogant vibe. I suspected him immediately of not telling the whole truth. He'd been around too long for these kinds of mistakes.
I thought the team might have given him a longer look but there really wasn't any reason to at the time.

Like Robin, I didn't consider Powers at all. He just come across as a disgruntled and prejudiced beat cop annoyed at women and black police offers being promoted over him.
I agree with you Jonetta, the audio book definitely gave him a more sinister feel. I wasn't sure how he figured in tho.
Harry just saw a disgruntled beat cop, put him into a category and overlooked him. Jerry and Kiz followed Harry's lead. But in the future, I can see Kiz speaking up (within the team) if there's something she doesn't like. If this wasn't their first case together, she might have seen the Powers angle sooner.
