I nominate Andrew Taylor, Thr Four Last Things, as value read. It is the 1st of a trilogy but chronologically last, so a perfect standalone in which the villain's story can be explored in reverse order. Taylor is unquestionably the best English author of historical crime fiction living & I wanted to nominate The Ashes of London for main read, but $20 for a Kindle book is simply absurd - my copy of the English hardbound was only £15, a nice big book with large type & thick paper you can throw @ a terrorist if necessary.

I'd meant to sit next month out & work on the TBR, but had some real problems with In a Dark Dark Wood - see my review. So as an option, I nominate Lucie Whitehouse, Before We Met. i'd been a bit rough on one of her earlier books & should like to see her get another chance.

That review has some likes from women readers but the important thing is that we have a choice for next month.

Pam wrote: "I had a look inside all four books. One of the value reads (See How they Run) looks interesting, so I've voted for that. But I'm afraid you'd have to pay me to read either of the main choices!"
I often feel that way myself with group reads, but please help us in the future by nominating books you'd like to read.
