Bishop Prescott's murder opened the door to lots of secrets, one being the paternity of Peter Prescott. Since so many seemed to already know or suspect he wasn't Nigel's son, do you think others may suspect the same about Sebastian?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments There are those who already know (Hendon and Amanda for example). I also think that Sebastian has his suspicions, even if only subconsciously. It will eventually come out and it will be interesting to see how it comes about.

I think Jarvis knows Sebastian isn't Hendon's son, too. Lovejoy now knows but wouldn't tell a soul. But those alive during that time can count and certainly are aware of the discrepancy in the dates.

Actually, I have my doubts about this. Jarvis would use it against Hendon if he knew.

We don't know that he hasn't....:)

I think we would know if he had. Considering the tensions between the two men and the fact that they are political rivals, I don't think that Jarvis knows.

You know me and my conspiracy theories...I'm holding out...for now:)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I do know... looking forward to finding out.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I think Jarvis knows. He probably knows to the date when their trip departed and returned.

I'm so glad the aunt told Sebastian a reason why his dotty cousin would not make a good heir, whether her story was true or not.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I think Jarvis knows too. I can't see how he could not know given that he was on the same trip with Hendon. He knows they sailed in December and didn't return until mid July of the next year...and then Sebastian was born that October. There's just no way he couldn't know. Henrietta strongly implied that Hendon knows secrets about Jarvis too, and these secrets hold the two men at a point of detente with each other.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of Hendon's other contemporaries also know but the ton seem to be pretty adept at accepting untruths if they're couched in polite fictions.

I didn't think of that. Perhaps Hendon knows the same secret that Russell Yates knows and this is what is keeping Jarvis in check?

Agreed. Also, Sebastian isn't the first child to be born on the wrong side of the blanket and be accepted as the heir. With the laws of entailment, many men were willing to look the other way to keep their estates in the family.

That was my conspiracy theory...they both have something on the other.

Definitely!

I'm wondering about this too.

I think Jarvis does know and is saving it for an opportune moment.

I think people have suspicions.

Yes I cant wait to read the next book to find out how it pans out.I am just hoping that when Sebastian finds out that he doesnt go after Kat again. I would love for him to be with Hero. That would be a great surprise.

Joanna | 139 comments What I want to know is if anyone knows who his biological father is. Hendon claims he doesn't know but I think he's lying.
