This thread is for all group members to give suggestions on what stories they would recommend to people that are new to the group and/or to reading graphic novels. This particular thread will be about all work by Grant Morrison.

The idea is to compile a list of books on each subject/topic from the group members and have a central thread that people can use to decide where to begin.

Preferably, the suggestions should be limited to stories that are available in some type of hardcover: Absolute, Omnibus, Deluxe HC, etc.

Make as many suggestions as you like, but do try to keep it to an "essential/best reads". At some point the mods will count all of the suggestions and make a summarized list.

Off the top of my head:

JLA The Deluxe Edition, Vol. 1 by Grant Morrison JLA The Deluxe Edition, Vol. 2 by Grant Morrison JLA The Deluxe Edition, Vol. 3 by Grant Morrison JLA The Deluxe Edition Vol. 4 by Grant Morrison
JLA: I have a soft spot for these. They got me into DC for a few years. If you look at the stories as a whole, the threats escalate. I admit that at a certain point it loses it's direction, but I look back fondly on those stories.

Batman The Black Glove, Deluxe Edition by Grant Morrison Batman R.I.P. by Grant Morrison Absolute Batman & Robin Batman Reborn by Grant Morrison Absolute Batman Incorporated by Grant Morrison
Batman: I'm taking these as a whole, because individually they are quite as strong as when you read them all together.

Books I liked but don't highly recommend:
The Animal Man Omnibus by Grant Morrison While a little unfocused, you can see the beginnings of his career.
Absolute All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison I liked this, but I'm not quite as enamored with it as everyone else.
DC Comics One Million Omnibus by Grant Morrison I remember this story all coming together nicely.

Meh:
New X-Men - I never cared for it.
Invisibles - I found it to be too confusing and "out there".
Seven Soldiers of Victory
Aztek the Ultimate Man
Marvel Boy

Haven't read Doom Patrol yet.

I did really like his Batman run. I would like it if they did another Absolute collection the first part of his Batman run but I am not sure that's likely. Shame that to collect his run you end up with three different sizes of hardcovers as no one size collected it all.

Additionally I'd vote for All-Star Superman (available in Absolute edition).

Yep, Combining Batman and Son, Black Glove and RIP in one Absolute seems like a no-brainer to me. There are enough additional chapters in other books that they could split the two main ones into two Absolutes, then fill in the pages with Resurrection of Ra's al Gul, etc.

I think Resurrection of Ra's al Gul may go in-between Batman and Son and The Black Glove. Which is really annoying since the DLX has Son and Black but not Resurrection. Resurrection is the one story I have that is only in standard size HC. The end of Batman his run is only in TPB or Absolute.
