Amber Hoxit (clove311) | 15 comments I ran into this for the first time yesterday. Normally I am not ever fazed by the content of a book. However, I am currently listening to Kushiels Dart by Jacqueline Carey, and wanted to get in a coupe of hours at work, on and off. As soon as the first "Phallus" popped out, I immediately felt like my face was going to burn off, and had to turn it off. I was listening with headphones so no one could hear, and listening in the car or at home has never evoked that kind of response from me. Has anyone else ever experienced this!?

Heather | 175 comments I was reading Claimed in the kitchen at work (very smutty book, but not a good book). I had a co-worker lean over and try to read some on my Kindle. Here's hoping they didn't read too much about some alien wanting to taste his human bride. Ugh, that book was a mess and almost every page was drenched with something sexual.

Sarah (sbransley) | 5 comments I don't usually read at work so this hasn't come up. I probably wouldn't bring a smutty book to work just on principle. However I work with a bunch of neuroscience, entomology, and genomics grad students. Considering how weird brains and bugs are, I really doubt anything would throw them for a loop.

Ann | 11 comments I read some of Priest by Sierra Simone at work and it was definitely a NSFW novel. I kept looking over my shoulder like somebody could see what was on the screen...and I have my own office. Lol!

Amber Hoxit (clove311) | 15 comments I feel better knowing I'm not the only one! I started giggling insanely when things were happening! No one knew what i was listening to, and no one really cares there as long as you do your work, but still, it made me feel like i was doing something wrong just listening to it.

Taryn (taryngilliland) | 50 comments I've brought Dark Lover and A Kiss of Shadows to work recently, and have brought many, many more with sex scenes to work. Most of the girls I work with ask me if it's any good and can they borrow it, while my boss tells me to stop reading so much. :-D

Sarah | 1 comments I'm an evening receptionist and it's not uncommon for things to get VERY slow at my work so I always read. I've read all manor of books and I stopped feeling embarrassed about it years ago when I read smut at work. I have a kindle so it's not like anyone can tell anyway. The worst part for me is if the book gets really sad and I start to tear up and then the phone rings or someone comes and I have to try to immediately act like I wasn't just crying five seconds ago.

Mermaid Kris (themermaidkris) I have not so many options to be caught with smutty book cause I got my own office but god I remember the times I read something really hot and suddenly someone came and I was so read and well...turned on :D I think first were the Black Dagger Brotherhood and Tiffany Reisz books with BDSM.

Lindsay | 22 comments I don't think I've ever been embarrassed by reading any of my own smutty books at work. I probably should be, but I'm not. To be fair I don't usually have any co-workers to worry about. I have worked in a group home for IDD adults for 14 years now and it is almost as comfortable as being in my own home at this point. Plus I tend to keep my reading to the time after everyone has gone to bed.

My problem comes in when one of my guys, who is obsessed with collecting books but can not read himself, will get his hands on some old school, bodice ripper romance and insist I read it to him because it is his new book. He is pretty innocent himself, so I honestly don't think he understands what he is asking me to read. I have to do a lot of creative editing and find a few face burning moments in those situations as I am skimming parts.
