Invision (CoN #7)

Can we say mega Donkey Kong round infinity and beyond?

I'm quite sure that it's just a coincidence that Medea's husband was named Evander. If I understand correctly (according to Caleb, most of the Malachai only lived a handful of years), Evander Malachai would have lived and died before Medea was even a gleam in Stryker's eye. ;)

Well ....
This is just a wild line of thought, but IF (and right now, it's a mighty big "if") I interpreted the clues from Invision correctly ... right now the most likely candidate seems to be .....
Thorn.
Again, it's just a wild line of thought, at this point in time. And it may not come to be. XD

I don't think so. Stryker's only the same age as Ash and Styxx. =)

And that is a good guess. Cause I keep trying to figure out has blonde hair and green eyes. Unless we haven't met him yet. I really hope it's a really awesome demon dude that her sister introduces her to. As I still remember how she was telling her about one dude when they first met that could do some really cool demony things. So I would totally love that.
Oh snap speaking of her sister. And in all things CON related to so to speak. She wasn't mentioned in the future or in CON Nick's present....so does that mean with all the changes going on do to Nick's son it led to Simi suddenly having siblings created that didn't exist before? Or they are long since dead? O_O Cause I don't think even Kody ever mentioned them either before now.

I don't think so. Stryker's only the same age as Ash and Styxx. =)"
Oh snap, he is? Well then I guess that says a lot there.

I don't think Thorn has actually met Simi in either the DH or CON series yet. Or at least has never had a scene with him that I can think of.

And who are Xev's other brothers? I got the impression they were on his mother's end of the deal vs Jaden's, but both beings are so old, it could be either side.

And that is a good guess. Cause I keep trying to figure out has blonde hair and green eyes. Unless we haven't met him yet. I really hope it's a really..."
Yeah, the blond hair and green eyes was part of it, plus the fact that Lucien (the kid) had some wicked powers which weren't of the Kalosum. That led me to think the powers were Mavromino ... therefore, Thorn. But you're right, it could be someone we haven't met yet. Or maybe we have, and we don't know it yet. =)
I'm quite sure that Xirena and Xedrix existed before all the timeline changes, since they were born long, long ago and everything up to Nick's lifetime seems to be unaffected. It's possible that Kody didn't know them, or that they died early enough that Kody didn't feel the need to mention them.
What STILL bugs me is Kody has never, ever mentioned Tory, Bas, or Theron. The way Ash talked in Styxx's book, the boys should have been close to Ari Galen since they were all about the same age. Now, it could be that they died before Kody could have known them, I definitely won't rule it out.
It could very well be that I'm desperately trying to add some greater significance to the timeline changes affecting Tory (going from age six to age ten, when her father died), other than Arik noticing that one change and alerting Ash. Still, unless I know for sure, it's going to continue to bug me.

I..."
Yea true, I don't think they have ever met. But given the way he treated that one Misery demon. I really hope he and Simi don't end up together. Cause I would want her to be with someone that "controls" her through her respect for them. Like in the case of Ash. But NOT in the case of he has a leash of power over her so to speak. Simi is naturally loyal on her own. And shouldn't be her own husband's "pet" unless she wants to be that is. ;) So no Akri Thorn stuff, ewww.

And that is a good guess. Cause I keep trying to figure out has blonde hair and green eyes. Unless we haven't met him yet. I really..."
I figured that maybe Ash's kids were dead along with her brothers too. I mean given how many folks from her fam no longer exist(hell even herself, which still wigs me out), likely around the time whatever happened to Ash. It could be she never knew about them at all other than as hearsay stories. But again that would mean even Katra and Mia are dead too for a long time as well. And just saying all that depresses me about the Malachai even more. Just damn. :(

Actually, Simi knew who Thorn was, in SONO. And she acted like she'd met him before. >.>
And whoever Simi's husband was, Kody didn't want to share the information because apparently the circumstances under which they got together, would have been a point in time that Nick would want to change.
Which really, REALLY makes me wonder ... >.>

And I really don't like the way that sounds either. :(

Except that in Illusion, Kody knew who Mia was. And I'm pretty sure she knew Mia's brother, too. Which just adds to my paranoia about Bas and Theron not being mentioned.
But yeah, I do agree that it's very very possible that they died long before she knew them.

And I really don't like the way that sounds either. :("
Yeah .... I'm starting to wonder if Nicky-boy might have taken the blame for something he didn't actually do ... >.>
But again, that's just a really wild thought. I freely admit that I could be totally wrong (and I'm kinda hoping I am).

And who are Xev's other brothers? I got the impression they were on his mother's end of the deal vs ..."
Both of those are really, really good questions, Myst. I would have thought that Cyprian would add to Noir's powers, not drain them ... but it could be the other way around.
Xev's brothers ... not a clue. At least, not yet. XD

Tiamet + Chronus = Jaden (and probably Cam, Rezar, Braith, Azura, and Noir)
Braith + Kissare? = Monakribos (pg 245, not po..."
This is Nice. Just to fill in a few of your gaps:
Adarian's parents were Xarex Malachai and Teras (It was mentioned on SK's FB page)
Further I am speculating that Charity might be adopted by Nick and not perse biological because Nick mentioned that she kind of reminded him of Caleb. So I think that maybe Charity is Caleb's biological daughter.
Further I do think that the name Evander is just coincidence in this case because take for example Nick's summoning name is Aloysius but in one of books there was a wolf were-hunter with the same name. So yeah sometime the characters 'coincidentally' have the same name.

Tiamet + Chronus = Jaden (and probably Cam, Rezar, Braith, Azura, and Noir)
Braith + Kissare? = Monakribos (p..."
But I thought Charity had eyes like Cherise? Not sure if it was color or shape though at the moment.

And who are Xev's other brothers? I got the impression they were on his mother's end of..."
And what if Lag put something on Cyprian, so he could be protected from her dad drawing powers off him. And let it solely come from Nick. Or maybe Noir can only draw from the present time Malachai and as Cyprian probably doesn't exist til far into the future he is protected from Noir at the moment?

Tiamet + Chronus = Jaden (and probably Cam, Rezar, Braith, Azura, and Noir)
Braith..."
You're right there is that! totally forgot! pfffff Now I am all mixed up..........
Side note: We know of course that Charontes age at a much slower pace than normal so at this moment Simi is a teenager eventhough she is thousands and thousands of years old.
My question is will she ever outgrow the way she speaks. Meaning speaking more adult like?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Could be that Charity took after her mother, whoever she was, and the mother looked similar to Caleb.

Tiamet + Chronus = Jaden (and probably Cam, Rezar, Braith, Azura..."
Yea, it likely will take some years for that to happen. But from what I remember of her sister and even her brother. As much as they are thousands of years old too. They don't sound like Simi. But I think there is still a sorta sing-song quality to their words that will always be there as part of the Charonte native tone.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Could be that Charity took after h..."
Ha, yea a combo of both traits like that would be interesting.

So we know Cyperian is Nick's biological son but Charity may be adopted. Which would make sense since I thought Malachai could only have male children but man this Nick/Adarian/Cherise/Jared situation has been really messing with the Malachai line.
Yeah, Ash's family could be dead. I mean Simi's daughter seems a mature age so she must be thousands of years old. Simi is about 11000 and still considered a teen. So Kody's timeline must be well over that.
Maybe there are too many Malachais in one spot. Like a power balance thing. The power being pulled from Nick wants to go to other Malachai because that's what it is suppose to do when a male Malachai becomes of age to steal it from his predecessor. So the power Noir has taken from Nick is being rerouted to Cyperian once it senses that he is near. Or something like that.

Good call on the rerouting thing there Shari. Could very well be and why Noir was on the ground.

I mean it would have to be something like that right? Cause it's not like she could 100% be sure any other way, that Jared would have a son. Unless he can't have sons at all...

I think she did. She said that the Malachai captured her cousins and tortured/killed them. I think she said he got their souls trapped and is torturing them?
As for Simi's husband: I do believe it's Thorn. SK told a fan that we already met him and Kody doesn't want to reveal his identity because Xev, Caleb and Nick wouldn't probably want him with Simi. Thorn is the only being that I can think of that connects all those three together.
Plus, he's powerful enough not to fear Ash's wrath and he's sort of part of the team.

FIRST PROBLEM: THE ACTUAL DATE..."
I asked the author about the age thing in the "Ask the Author" section on goodreads and she said that people get other people's age wrong all the time in real life, so her characters do the same thing. Nick was actually 24 when he died (10 years after jokingly negotiating with Ash to let him live in CON btw), but other characters will describe him as "late-twenties" or other things because people do that stuff in real life too. I'm 21 and I never fully lost the reflex of saying I'm 18.

Yes but just in this cas..."
Remember Ambrose messed with other timelines before we got to the one that the CON are currently in and also in the last book we discovered other dimensions, so we can assume that his kid is from one of those other dimensional timelines.

If you're talking about Cyprian:
I think it's more likely that somewhere between the events of CON and DH, while Nick had amnesia or was otherwise oblivious about his heritage, Laguerre drugged and raped him (borrowing the move from her mother, Azura).
Or, even, that Nick ends up severally injured in the future and from his blood, anger and power, Cyprian rose up to make the world pay. Like Bathymaas did from Monakribos' grief or like Jeros from his father's remains.

Ok, but then you don't actually go and say that you're 18, right? You correct yourself and say that you're 21.
In the first book Nick says very clearly that he's 24. He dies several years later. So no, I don't buy the reasoning SK gave us in this particular case, because it was Nick was told us about his age.
Honestly the more I think about it, the more I become a bit pissed off... inconsistencies about the timeline are a pet peeve of mine, and this series is starting to feel more and more like I need to study for an exam if I want to understand what's going on. It's becoming stressfull T_T

Ok, but then you don't actually go and say that you're 18, right? You correct yourself and say that you're ..."
If someone were to describe me and didn't know my exact date of birth, they would say I was maybe 18 or 19, because I look younger than I am.
I checked Night Pleasure to be sure and Amanda is the only one who refers to his age at all when she describes him as "Probably no older than twenty-four". And she could be wrong about that according to the author.
Another thing that might cause confusion is that a few of the books don't always pick off from when the last one ended. Some pick up later and/or have flashbacks and others, like STYXX or ACHERON, follow the main character's lifetime and begin centuries before where the last book ended. I don't know about you but those are particularly annoying to me because I have to keep track every time a date is mentioned and remember what events of the other books have or haven't happened yet.

Pretty sure it's Thorn who's with Simi, i always find it strange she's actually older than him.. The name, the hair and the eyes seem to suggest Thorn but Lucien seemed bullheaded and Thorn always strikes me as rather slick and kinda suave. He has a chauffeur for F*ck Sake.
I think all these inconsistencies in the timeline are meant to be there for people to notice, SK is definitely leaving them there intentionally..
Lagguerre is definitely capable of rape, scoring a roofie or trickery. In OSN Nick was in bed with a beautiful dark haired woman called Jennifer when War came knocking.. i was thinking that might have been Laguerre incognito before he developed perspicacity but she wasn't pregnant in fangs book..
Loved Cyprian btw. What a hard ass..

Definitely possible. But the only goal she is achieving for me is making me wish to wait till the end of the CON series and then read it all together. So far it's too confusing, it's not fun anymore :(
I mean, I can't trust what I read, the story I follow. I can't trust what I know, because things keep changing and while that can be fun when you have the whole series already completed to read, it's frustrating when you're trying to think about theories, characters, relationships...
The timeline isn't fixed, so you can't trust it. Characters lie or are deceived/their memories changed, so you can't trust what they say (like Kody remembering Nick killing her).
So, right now, it feels like a giant waste of time because everything keeps changing and what you thought was true, isn't.
For example, speculating about Simi's husband can be fun... until we find out, three books from now, that the timeline changed again and Simi died before marrying.
I don't know, I'm just frustrated T_T
Ooooo Evander. I'm not convinced he was both Malachai and Madea's husband. He got whooped by humans!?!?!?.....I mean stranger things have happened in the series but that is crazy. And his son would have had to live to continue the Malachai line.
I think the Sephiroth are potentially good but they are warriors at the end of the day. They'd need beings capable of defeating the Malachai who are naturally dark in nature. So yeah demons and gods make sense.
