2. The structure of I Thirst is unconventional, with a "story within a story" dynamic and some poetic verse. Why do you think the author chose to present the narrative in this way? What do the inner stories reveal about their authors, Rebecca and Peter, as well as the themes of the novel?

Jill A. | 897 comments I do not feel like I got to know Peter at all. I guess some of the writing (not clear which) is supposed to be his but we only view him through Rebecca's eyes and, perceptive as she is, she doesn't dare ask him direct questions that could help her understand his inner life (based on his life experiences) sooner. I think Rebecca is confused. Despite having two fairly close friends, she reveals very little of herself to either of them and they don't talk through things, at least in a way the reader can follow.
