I nominate "The Marriage Game" by Alison Weir, about Elizabeth I and the love of her life, Robert Dudley. Weir tends to be one of the more credible historical fiction novelists writing today.

The book has not been released yet. I think we should save it for a few months.

Amelia Bassano Lanier is widely considered to be the enigmatic “dark lady” mentioned in Shakespeare’s sonnets. And some believe that she may have written some of the plays attributed to Shakespeare.

Henry VII the last English King to win his crown in the field of battle. How the red and white rose became one and the same.

I think it is a no no to nominate a book you have written.

The Temptation of Elizabeth Tudor: Elizabeth I, Thomas Seymour, and the Making of a Virgin Queen

It's out the end of this month, but these nominations are for June. Since it's an Alison Weir, it should have been ordered by a good number of libraries, too.
So I think this nomination is still OK.

Having read all of Andersen's alternative history books in this series, I think people might be confused if they don't read the three novels that come before The Virgin's Daughter. I know it's listed as the first book in a separate trilogy but a lot of the events of the first book are pretty directly linked to the events of the previous trilogy.

Does that mean my nomination for The Virgin's Daughter won't go through? I have read the other three which is why I nominated it.

Maybe the link is the 'how' Elizabeth becomes Queen but it tells you that in the synopsis of the book. Seems like this series extends from The Boleyn Trilogy 3-Book Bundle: The Boleyn King, The Boleyn Deceit, The Boleyn Reckoning But I am not entirely sure.

I'll close nominations and open a poll later this afternoon.

Two nominations to a person, please.
Can't remember what we've already read as a group? (I can't always remember, either.) There's a shelf for "group reads" at the group bookshelf.
