Umm, soooo.... I have a big team challenge going on and I have to read some real doorstoppers for the next week. I was hoping to be able to read this before it starts but I won't be able to. Do you mind waiting another week? I'm so sorry! If not, you can start it and I can come back and comment later.

Scratch that! I think I might be able to squeeze it in mid-week. I'll know for sure by Saturday!

Great! I think I should be able to start this one on Tuesday or Wednesday then. I have to read first and I'll be starting that tomorrow.

White Wolf - I don't remember this character from before? I guess he wasn't in the first book... I am assuming they have some sort of history ... I hope it doesn't turn into an annoying love-triangle > I HATE love-triangles !

I just got home from work. I had a smidge more listening time than I thought I would.

I'm on part 4 of 13- Ch. 31

Are you listening to it? Or reading it? I'm listening and sometimes the audio chapters don't line up with the book.

The White Wolf is Thiago. He was the General or something for the Chimera army. He wanted Madrigal (Karou) to be his wife but she always thought he was just a little scary and off. He is the one who executed Madrigal because she fell in love with Akiva. She wasn't supposed to be brought back but Brimstone did it in secret.

Remember when she snuck into the doorway and saw those bodies lying out on the stone slabs? He was the one who grabbed her and Brimstone freaked out and kicked her out. He was trying to protect her. She never saw Brimstone or talked to him again before the doorways closed.

I just reread the 1st book like a month ago. Thank God!

I don't think there will be a love triangle... *crosses fingers*

But I will be back with spoilers in a little bit. I need to write a review and I don't wanna! Which means I'll have to think!! haha

Ohhh yes yes yes, now it's coming back to me! Yes - thank you for the recap! I really should have reread the book, but I didn't get the chance to!! And I thought I remember the gist of it , but the names have completely escaped me!

I'm listening to it, but my audio book is not divided into parts - it's one 921 minute long file :)

I'm at 160 minutes, so almost 20% ... I had a busy day (hate that!) and didn't get a chance to listen much at work :( :D

I'm between chapters, not sure which one I'm at, will let you know when I get to the beginning of the next one so that we can compare progress :)

Okay! I checked out the ebook too so I could switch between if needed. I'm going to go back and listen to chapter 30 again- 26%. So I'm just barely ahead of you!

I keep thinking why would Karou write Zuzana that email "I'm happy, I'm happy" when she's clearly NOT ... But then I got to the part where Zuz got the Monty Python reference... :)

Yeah, I'm just passed that. Like the next chapter, I think. I was wondering the same thing. It seemed so odd and out of place from what we were hearing from her time with the Chimera (however you spell it, lol).

I still haven't written my review so I haven't started back up yet.

I keep thinking that I must be wrong and that Brimstone is going to show up. Surely, he's not really dead!

50%- I had so many distractions that I'm sure I missed things! Hopefully it all comes back to me as I'm reading. I'm finishing this today! Between work and that monster challenge, I'm feeling a little spread thin, lol.

What is Ziri trying to communicate to Karou? He was tortured but left alive? Or was it that Akiva saved him when he was left to die? He's a little sneak. So is Ten for that matter. She's trying to learn the secrets so that Karou is no longer needed. *punches in the face* (hide spoiler)]

Zuzana and Mik are cute - I agree ! I'm amused by their accent... Hahaha it just seems funny because of the audiobook accent - if they are Czech, they'd be speaking Czech with each other , they wouldn't be speaking English with a Czech accent ! But I get it - in the audiobook it makes it easier to distinguish different voices if the narrator does an accent...

Yeah, I like this narrator. She's not a favorite but I think she does a pretty good job. Although she's a little slow. She does much better with Southern (US) accents. It's probably more natural for her. I can't say that I've heard a Czech accent but I always assumed this one was wrong, lol. It sounds more Russian to me. Then again, do I really know what that would sound like? Probably not! I have a bit of a Southern accent too and there is no deviation from that for me, lol. That's why I love audiobooks!

I won't have as much listening time at work today but I did speed her up a little and I'm determined to finish this tonight!

yes, I'm not sure I really know the difference between Czech or Russian, etc...accents, but this one sounds over the top :D

Either way - I do like the audio book, it works. I think that I wouldn't have gotten through the first book if I was reading it regularly - it really dragged for me at the beginning... But with audio - I plowed through and I was glad I did because the ending was amusing ...

I loved that Romeo and Juliet reference...
"Imagine if Juliet woke and Romeo was ... alive but he had killed her whole family and burned her whole village..." or something like that...

Well I didn't get much further today. I'm only at 61%. I just started ch. 58 where Karou is about to resurrect Issa? or someone, lol.

I have it on 1.75 speed and I'm not stopping till it's done! Lol!

I finished last night. Even though it was slow to start for me, probably more to do with everything else going on, I really liked it. The last 25% or so had so much going on! I just plowed right on through to the end. I thought for a second there, we might have a love triangle but I think that's taken care of.

(view spoiler)[ I just knew something was going to happen with Jael and Akiva. I wasn't really expecting that but I should have. They really should have killed him too! Why the hell didn't they, grrrr! Gotta have a villain for the 3rd book I suppose, lol.

I keep hoping beyond all hope that Brimstone is somehow still alive. I don't think so though and that makes me sad for Karou.

The whole Ziri thing- with Thiago sending him off to be killed, well that just sucked, lol. Gaaah, Thiago made me so sick with rage at what he did to those people and then to Ziri. And then the creeper was going to rape Karou! But she kilt him :)

When Akiva came back with his dead brother and he couldn't be brought back- again sad times. My heart just broke for them. And then freaking Thiago comes a knockin? I was like WTH he's supposed to be dead!! That was just genius! And poor Ziri, the last of his kind, giving up his body and life to become Thiago. All for Karou. I keep thinking if she can find Brimstone's soul fast enough that they can do a switch-a-roo and everything will nice and tidy again, lol. Brimstone can be Thiago and Ziri can have his body back! I doubt that will happen though :( (hide spoiler)]

Good morning!! No worries - this week I was also all over the place and not in the best Buddy Read mode! I am finishing up the last few chapters now! I was determined to finish it last night, but I ended up having my cousins over and the book was paused yet again! Arghhh, haha , I hate when real life interrupts my reading time ! :)

I didn't read your spoiler, just in case , because I'm not done yet :D I will read it as soon as I finish the book...

I hate that guy! He is ridiculous!!!! I hope she kills him!!!

Nope, that sounds good. I, too, still have a ton of BR's lol. Luckily, half of them are pretty short books!

Sorry, didn't get a chance to write from work !
Finished it earlier this morning...
It was ok - but not amazing for me... I think the reason was that the beginning really bored me! It did pick up at the end, but at that point I lost a little bit of my momentum ...

I am happy that we are reading the third book soon, because it was tough at the beginning to remember all the names and connect the dots ... Thanks to you I managed! ! :D:D

The beginning was definitely a slow start for me too. I guess that's why it was so easy to put down. Then again, maybe if I didn't have so many interruptions I would have liked it more. Who knows!

I only knew some of that because I just reread the first book, lol. Otherwise, I probably would have been lost!

Now I need to write a review for it for a Bingo game and I don't feel like it, lol.

Bah! Sorry I didn't get a notification. I won't be able to even read it this month now. That challenge is ruining my life, LOL. Next week is the last round and I'm never signing up for it again. I can do it early next month though. Is that okay?
