BOOK POOL Challenge June-July 2016
Welcome to the group Angie! Good on you for joining in....and a great selection you've chosen to add to the book pool :)
A further note to my nomination of Seacliff, a Regular Boy Within. by Susan Tarr - it occurs to me that some readers may know it under the title it was published in US, Phenomena: The Lost and Forgotten Children Whatever title, I think the story will resonate with most people who grew up in New Zealand.
I'm hoping that I'm picking books that I'll want to read in a couple of weeks -
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra
Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan
Count me in please. There's a few books in the pool that are on my TBR list so hopefully this motivates me to get on to them. And I nominate these three (also on my list):
1. Major Pettigrew's Last Stand - Helen Simonson
2. A Spot of Bother - Mark Haddon
3. In the Absence of Heroes - Anthony McCarten
Not sure if they're any good but throwing them in the pool anyway. :)
It's awesome to have so many people joining in with the Book Pool Challenge. I reserved four of the books through my library last night. They are usually very efficient at getting them in, but I'm hoping they don't come in for another week. Perfect timing for the start date.

Kia ora Susan, you are more than welcome to add 2 more books to the pool. You will need to name them here before 1 June.

Hiya, you've added your 3 books to the pool. On 1 June, the book pool will be closed. You can choose any or all of the books in the pool to read. But good for you for picking early. You have 2 months to read as many as you can though. Each 1, gains you a point.
When you've finished reading a title, you come back here and post. Let us know if you enjoyed it.
I will put up a post on 1 Jun for the format of your post :)

The aim is to read as many as you can during the challenge but it's only for fun so no pressure!

I consider the goal is to read as many of the ones I want to read as I can in the 2 months, which given I'm a less-than-one-per-week kind of reader is never very many! It will often give me the impetus to move some books up the tbr or consider a few that I may not have read otherwise, even if I don't knock them off inside the official timeframe. (yes, I'm looking at you Name of the Wind).
Yep, as others have said, Read the ones you want to read. Re-reads are allowed. We've got two months so there is time to read a few of them :)
Hello! I only joined the group recently but this looks like fun.I'm choosing some books I've been meaning to read for a while. All different genres, so hopefully at least one will appeal to most people :)
Welcome Nicki and glad you're joining in :) I've been meaning to try The Cuckoo's Calling for ages so will try and pick that up from the libs
Would love to join in on this challenge, thank you for the invite :)My 3 to add:
The Night Circus / Erin Morgenstern
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan / Lisa See
The Glass Castle / Jeannette Walls
I swear you guys must be secretly going through my TBR list when you select your options! haha. I've been wanting to read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and The Glass Castle for ages. Thanks for joining Samantha :)
The library is busy getting books for me. May I start reading now?!?!!! I've got to get them back next week.
P.D.R. wrote: "The library is busy getting books for me. May I start reading now?!?!!! I've got to get them back next week."How come your library's lending period isn't 2-3 weeks like most others?

I hope you can renew them! Only a few days until we can begin :)

If the books are bought in, Lesley, they are new books and thus go in the rental, one week only section!! Sigh!At least they do get them for me and are very sweet about it.
Yay only 1 more day until the challenge starts! :) I'm going to start off with my three books (Tu, Child 44 and Family Matters) and I've also got one of Ella's Gran's choices (Mr. Rosenblum Dreams in English) out from the library so will be getting to that soon too.
My definite ones are the three I nominated plus, Tu & the Night Circus.
I've already read Twelfth Night but am tempted to read again.
Have already read Chappy & Persuasion.

I want to get through the ones I nominated. I've had The Luminaries in my TBR pile for ages, so this is extra motivation and I'd like to make it through Tu, Child 44 and Night Circus.
I have such an ambitious mental list of what to read... especially as I'm nowhere near finished my current books, so won't be able to start on bookpool books probably for a week! As well as my own 3 I'm keen to read Maze Runner, The secret chord, Mistress to the crown, Night Circus, Name of the Wind, Tu, Written in Red, Time and Again, Finding Audrey.... and quite keen to re-read Persuasion! No way I'll get through all of them in 2 months.
P.D.R. wrote: "Ah ha! Started already. I did wait until this morning. Is listening allowed - audio books i mean?"
Certainly is, I always have at least a couple that I've listened to in my list.

Here is the format for every time you post:
List the # you are from the participants list (this can be found in message 2)
# of books completed from the pool (including current book)
book cover, date finished and the rating you gave it
EXAMPLE:
#1, Book 1
Read:11/6
Rated: 3 stars
Good luck and happy reading!!!!
#9
Read: 01/06
Rated: 4.5 stars - man can write prose as well as poetry. I used to enjoy the radio progs he did for the BBC when I was in the UK. All round talent - pity about the voice (hahahahahaha - just joking, wouldn't change a thing.) Obviously I am a massive fan but I completely recommend this.
Woohoo! I've been looking forward to this challenge, and am off to a start.Number of books nominated – 59.
Already read – 10
Of the remainder, I chose 17 as my long list.
I'm a Kindle lover, so they must be available as an ebook. That ruled out 2, so I'll select further from the 15 available on Kindle.
Yippee, I've started on the first – Chappy, by Patricia Grace.
#9
Read: 04/06
5 stars automatically - I really like this play, of the comedies; I'm not much of one for comedies all round generally. Miserable git :)
