Oh oh... It's better to keep your expectations low if you reading anything written by Twilight author

message 153: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, Theodora arrived. And she is a jolly lady!!

Manasa wrote: "I'm glad you're finding it amusing, for it's supposed to be the "scariest novel ever'' ! :p:p"

Ha ha.. Glad that after castle's experience, I didn't have any expectation from it, so I'm not disappointed. I didn't expect it to be scary.

Manasa wrote: "Also what is your opinion on Jacob Black? (please say better than Edward. thanks.)"

Are you really asking it? It's so obvious. Meyer tried so hard to make Edward flawless and perfect that she ended up messing up his character.

message 156: by [deleted user] (new)

While on the other hand Jacob's character so human- before he became werewolf.

Manasa wrote: "And she also tried to make Bella too imperfect?? "

Ha ha..she used to stumble on almost every step she took. She can't even walk properly....!!(-_-)

Manasa wrote: "Arpit wrote: "Yeah, Theodora arrived. And she is a jolly lady!!"

I think she's a little selfish, in the later part of the book :/
She's like the anti-Constance."

Theodora and selfish?? Huh.. Well, she's not yet.... let's see.

message 159: by [deleted user] (new)

90 pages out of 150. I'll finish it tonight. Till then I'll hold my opinion.

message 160: by [deleted user] (new)

Wait, gurl!!

Sundara Gandhi (bookaholictalks) | 553 comments Theodora? Anti-Constance?
Which book are you guys reading?

message 162: by Sundara (new)

Sundara Gandhi (bookaholictalks) | 553 comments Lol okay!
I started wondering at what point in the novel New moon all these stuff started coming up:P

The haunting of hill house genre?

message 163: by Sundara (new)

Sundara Gandhi (bookaholictalks) | 553 comments Haha cool!
It seems like a great book!
Adding it to my tbr list:P

message 164: by [deleted user] (new)

Mishty *shouts out loud*
Finally, I've left the Hill House with whoever was inside it to wander her/him alone in it.

message 165: by [deleted user] (new)

And now I understand why were you so anxious to discuss. Sorry, I'm a disappointment. So, let's see-
You were indeed right about, Theo, the mean lady.
I felt it was more hard to get than the Castle.
I shamelessly admit that I don't think I got the full out of it.
It was more psychological than scary.

message 166: by [deleted user] (new)

Warning Sundara- Do not read ahead.

So, I guess Hill House haunted poor Nell? She died in the end, didn't she?
And the last line was about her, wasn't it?

message 167: by [deleted user] (new)

HELP MISHTY! IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY.
Before taking help from other websites and reviews, I'd like to know your views.

message 168: by Sundara (new)

Sundara Gandhi (bookaholictalks) | 553 comments But if the ending is not proper,I might as well skip this book!
I'll go crazy if I don't get the ending..

message 169: by Sundara (new)

Sundara Gandhi (bookaholictalks) | 553 comments I know! Was just scrolling through and couldn't help it:(

message 170: by [deleted user] (new)

Even though your theory is right, there are still some unanswered question. Let's check 'em too-
1. Who wrote on the wall second time. And how did clothes become fine?
2. What was that planchette? It said something about Nell?
3. Why Hill House was evil?

Now, I don't know the answer of the first two question, but I have a theory about the third one.

message 171: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 08, 2016 10:33AM) (new)

So it goes like this-
I hope you are familiar with the general concept of Indian architecture system, which is also known as Vastu shastra. It suggests houses to be build in such a way so they eliminate negative energies and welcome positive stuff. Well, I don't personally believe in it, but I got this crazy theory that explains few things.
Now, Hill House, as the doctor told us, was wrong in every possible thing. It wasn't balanced. Stairs were slightly tilted in one direction or other. Doors were not in middle. The whole house was weirdly structured and constructed. Avoiding to Vastu Shastra, it was not rightly built, and was a centre of negative energies. And that's how Hill House, our dear Hill House, got a bad name.
Now, its negativity affected everyone living in it, but Nell, oh poor Nell, being the most afraid and hence a easy prey, got destroyed by it.
How's it? Isn't crazy?

I set dinner at 6. Nobody will hear you if you scream in the night. Nobody!!

message 173: by [deleted user] (new)

Scary? If this book is scary then Salman is an Oscar worthy actor.
Lol... This book wasn't a little bit scary. Wanna read something scary as a BR?

Or the one who committed suicide in the tower? Ha ha now it all seems funny to me. I think Castle was better.

message 175: by [deleted user] (new)

Have you read Anna dressed in Blood?

message 176: by [deleted user] (new)

Author should not have included the word "Haunting" in its title, in that way it wouldn't be so disappointing. Now, let's just leave this book here and move on.

message 177: by [deleted user] (new)

No I've not read The Shining, though it's on my tbr, but I don't want to read it now. It's 600 crazy pages long. Let's read something short and scary. Around 200-350 pages long. Any idea?
BTW, not interested in Anna anymore. Suggest something.

Manasa wrote: "The blurb for exorcist is pretty horror like.
Have you seen the conjuring ?"

I have seen The Conjuring, but didn't like it much. Actually, I saw it with my friends- 3, 4 of them- and we did not even watch it in the midnight. And we made funny jokes during the movie, so you see, a bad thing to do with a horror movie. Now I'm alone. Let's start it now, I mean The Exorcist. Would you mind sharing the ebook link?

message 179: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "when do you want to start??"

Thanks, Mishty.
Let's start from tonight.

I assume, Censor chief, that you must have seen the movie.
How was it?

Pranjali | 767 comments my review of the movie, I am not sure if this counts as spoiler or not
(view spoiler)

message 184: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't understand the prologue. It was so confusing. Main story is good so far.
The usual unknown sound horror.

Pranjali | 767 comments wish you all a scary read!!

Welll, all my books are only night shift readings these days.
Haven't started Exorcist. Will do it latest by coming Monday.
Movie not that impressive. More than scary, it was funny :P
But yeah, many people do find it the scariest of all time.

Also seen other movies on exorcism - Emily Rose wala.
So excited to read the first book on it :)

Cheers and happy reading!

message 188: by [deleted user] (new)

"Movie not scary, movie not scary", everyone is chanting the same mantra. Now I've zero expectations from this book, which is sorta nice thing.

message 189: by [deleted user] (new)

And Manasa, sorry again, but I'm going on a kinda-trip with my family and relatives, so, you know, I won't be able to read much or update GR. I hope you'll understand.
It seems we are star-crossed buddy readers. ;);)

message 190: by [deleted user] (new)

But I guess-nooo I'm certain Gorab would be a great buddy.
And if book fails to scar you, Gorab will frighten you. Beware young girl.
