Do you feel sympathy for any of the characters in ‘Apt Pupil’?

I can't really feel any sympathy for either Todd or Mr Dussander, they are both people who do awful things and don't value life other than their own, they haven't really been shown to have any redeeming qualities
. I do feel sympathy towards Todd's parents, particularly his father who wanted Todd to have a better life then he did as a child.
