Sam Ahmed I have kindle paper-white 2 and I notice that my battery is draining a bit when I leave my device on sleep mode
I doubted it before although most reviews say the opposite but two days ago I Left my device at night with about 15% of battery and woke up the next morning to find it empty
I tried to test the device while reading to calculate the rate of consuming to find it acceptable so I think the problem is just about the sleep mode option which is supposed to not consume any battery at all
So what does it mean ? Should I use the turn off option ? Does it happen with you or is it something wrong with mine ?

I don't use the light option and turn off the WiFi indeed

Sam Ahmed Nothing like this , I checked all the possibles myself but I have a large library more than 150 books
To be sure I will leave the device on sleep mode with screensaver for along time and see if the battery reduces or no

Tobias Langhoff (tobiasvl) | 50 comments Did it drain completely when it was left over night? If not, try hard booting it by turning it completely off (hold the button for 7 seconds or so) and back on, and see if it gets better.

I can assure you that this isn't normal.

Sam Ahmed yes it drained completely then
I also think it was not normal but it never happened before
and I don't know the reason and waiting to test it to calculate the battery consumption
but I ask if the sleep option consumes battery a bit or its same as turn off

Tobias Langhoff (tobiasvl) | 50 comments It uses some battery, but very little.

Sam Ahmed I knew it :)

Sam Ahmed Another question please
Does using highlights , notes and the dictionary a lot reduces the 28 hours of battery life ?
I read in English and use notes a lot about 5 times each page . maybe this is a sensible reason why my battery doesn't reach the 28 hours ?
cause I charged it yesterday to test it and used it for 8 hours at 2 days and the battery is 60% now

Donald Scott (writeondon) Same thing suddenly started happening to me, and it took me awhile but the problem ended up being solved easily, once I knew what it was. You have to shut off your location-based services in the settings and if you get ANY notices popping up about letting where you are be known, hit "Cancel" - otherwise it acts like a GPS, is constantly running and draining your battery. I was fine for the longest, years, then suddenly my batter in sleep mode wouldn't even last overnight ... until I shut that off. I also rebooted my Kindle, and at one point even put it back to factory settings because the rep thought I was getting the pop-up becaus some app was constantly trying to read my location. ZERO problems with it since, and that's been maybe ... 2 years now?

Sam Ahmed What do you mean by location ?
You mean the pages location ? The reading progress
There is no GPS on kindle E readers

Tobias Langhoff (tobiasvl) | 50 comments Sounds like a Kindle Fire, that one.

Donald Scott (writeondon) Sorry, my bad, mine is a Fire, and it's under settings. If you don't have "Location Based Services" to turn off on your Kindle paper-white, that can't be what's draining the batter, obviously. It definitely was the issue on my Fire.

Sam Ahmed I contacted Amazon again and they advised me to update my device to the newest edition 5.7.4 instead of 5.7.3
Also I (reset) my kindle before updating to fix any possible bugs in system but after that when I attached the kindle to my computer the documents folder only is shown . the (active content sandbox) folder isn't exist although the device works well . Whats the hell is that malware or something ?
