Judith, I didn't want to give away the genres that I REALLY liked. The consequences of that would be disastrous.
I mean the really mean thing would be non-fiction on slime molds or the history of scientific nomenclature, except I would read both those things.
No one else going to put their head above the parapet with a genre listing?!
Mine include: Space Opera; Satire; History; Mystery; Scandi-Noir
Mine exclude: Home Improvement; Brown; Horror

ok okFaves: Urban Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller, Horror, Time Travel
Not the Faves: Chick Lit, Non-Fic, Romance
Oh the nefarious ways these listings will likely be used.Include: Historical Romance, Romantic Suspense, Thriller, Adventure, Urban Fantasy
Exclude: High Fantasy, Horror, Chick Lit, BDSM, Christian Fiction
Jenny wrote: "You don't like The Shining? The horror!!!!!!"
Horror in a hotel needing a crew of workpeople? I'll pass, ta! Who knows what I'd see, peering between slats in the laundry room!

MPG:Y: Fantasy, Space Opera, Retellings, LGBT
N: Reverse Harem, Romance, BDSM, Chick Lit
Tags are more fun:
Y: AI, Nebula Nominee, Dinosaurs, Corvids, Fungus, Dragons
N: virus/viral, serious
Cat wrote: "Can't believe no one has tagged Wintersmith with Morris Dancing!"That is the exact book I thought of when I saw "Morris Dancing"!

Yay, even the talk of a new team challenge is making me smile. Along with putting BDSM next to Christian Fiction..hee hee.
Bring on the Challenge!
I agree with Lexi that tags are more fun than MPG. Some of the tags are great! And, fungus? Really? teehee
There seem to be more books tagged fungi so I might have to change it. Also, corvids has some fun books: The Raven Tower, The Raven Boys, Hollow Kingdom
Sadly, no one has tagged a book iridescent and there is only one pointy book.Edited: Someone has tagged Twilight as smarmy, my life is complete.
I see some fun tag searches in the future...obsequious, distal, sponge-worthy, flatulent, and of course, thud.
Results:Jenny: obsequious (0), distal (0), sponge-worthy(47), flatulent(0), and thud(58)
Alysa: plop(45)
I cannot however find a theme for either thud or plop
I am not a Seinfeld fan, but I am not surprised that there are a few sponge-worthy tags. Gonna grab my copy of The Highly Selective Dictionary for the Extraordinarily Literate, and look for some more fun words. After I feed myself and pour a scotch.
Include: Fantasy, Classics, Golden-age detective fiction, Children's/middle-grade, RomanceExclude: Horror, Cosy-mystery, Apocalypse, Scandi-Noir, Erotica
Steven wrote: "When the end result is in doubt, best to remain silent and not give them ammo, Jenny. :)"Awwww, don't be like that... half of our past challenges wouldn't be half the fun without it.

*giggles*
Oh dear.. I have no clue this time... my life is over!Okay... I'll bite too:
IN: Urban-Fantasy; LGBT; Romance; Young Adult; Mystery-Thriller
OUT: Horror; Classics; Retellings
And I also prefer the tags. One of my favorite challenges was the tag challenge from wacky challenges. You know... when I had no life besides being on goodreads. I wouldn't trade it. But I miss it sometimes
Eldarwen wrote: "How is life on the other side, Sonia?Already wondering what we're brewing?? ;-)"
Strangely quiet without the chipmunks.
Wondering? Me? Naaaa... whatever crazy wonderings I could have they wouldn't stand a chance against the real thing... so I rather wait for the surprise.
I know how deviant you all are. Even if peeps around here think that it was only me... ah! they'll see. They'll see so hard!
Also... since I am not up for captain yet, can I pick a team to be with? Or rather a few names for you to choose from...Cause there's a bunch of them I would love to be with and can't decide. LOL
Eldarwen wrote: "*grin*We had a good master.... ;-)))"
Ahhhahahahahahah
Yeah, the master was totally conquered by the students during sinful towers.. so.. I cannot wait to see
I am sooooo going to regret this...Yes: Sci-fi, fantasy, classics, humour, historical fiction, biographies, horror
No: YA, romance, (YA romance!), crime, chick lit, anything ever featured in Oprah's bookclub that isn't also a classic (I'm sure that's a genre! lol)

I'm not the only one!!!!! I tend to shy away from books after I find out that they are on Oprah's book club list. Thought I was just being a snob, then I remember reading The Bridges of Madison County, and I feel good about avoiding that list again. Gah.

Gah."I formulated that particular opinion a very many years ago when she read an excerpt of White Oleander on her talk show, and it thought it was the most inane pretentious drivel I'd ever heard. Subsequent encounters with books on the list haven't done anything to change my opinion.
When I'm done with my current books, I'm planning to read The Road, which I had been looking forward to, until I found out it was featured. I'm hanging on to the thought that it's considered a modern classic and therefore should still be good. *fingers and toes crossed*
You are welcome. I love those books.I keep meaning to read the Road as well. If you get to it, let me know if it is good please.
