This book is about a young polish girl named Wanda who is bullied daily for wearing the same faded blue everyday. Wanda lies to her classmates and says she has a hundred dresses at home yet no one seems to believe her. The bullying got so merciless that Wanda was pulled out of school and the class felt terrible however it was too late for an apology. This book could be used in the classroom for a discussion on bullying in the school place, you could also discuss family poverty rates and the role in which a bystander can plan in these types of instances. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it speaks powerfully to girls about friendship and forgiveness. Overall, i think that this book should be read to many students due to its strong message on a highly talked about and controversial issue that has seen an increased rate over the years.
