The order in which Miss Austen's works will be received:
May:
Pride and Prejudice
Followed by the Joe Wright film version starring Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen. I must confess, I prefer the Colin Firth version (who doesn't?) but in this one, the struggle is fo' real for Mr. Darcy...and we get to SEE it. It is a delight!
June:
Sense and Sensibility
Followed by the Ang Lee film version starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. If you are a Potterhead...you will recognize an ungodly amount of faces!
July:
Emma
Followed by the Douglas McGrath film version starring Gweneth Paltrow and Jeremy Northam. Definitely the funniest of Jane Austen's films-the movie Clueless was actually based off of this book!
August:
Persuasion
Followed by the Adrian Shergold film version starring Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penry-Jones.
September:
Mansfield Park
Followed by the Patricia Rozema version starring Hannah Taylor Gordon and Jonny Lee Miller. Far more risque' than the other films on the list.
October:
Northanger Abbey
Followed by the Jon Jones version starring Felicity Jones and JJ Feild (swoon). I absolutely LOVE this version of NA!
I have chosen the shorter versions of the films but if you have the time, I have to suggest the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. Yes, it is over 6 hours long but you won't regret it...I can promise you that!

Days 1-3 of P&P:
I have a book club meeting Tuesday night so today and tomorrow will be spent reading The Shining. On Wednesday, I will be hanging out with the Bennets!

After finishing the last episode (*tear)-I wanted more! So I moved on to the 2005 version of P&P starring Keira Knightley. I still wasn't satisfied. I continued with Northanger Abbey followed by Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility and then Emma. I ended this Jane Austen movie marathon with Mansfield Park but my insatiable appetite for period romance was still not fulfilled. I concluded the marathon with Austenland and then against my better judgement...watched Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Do not do it. No. Just..don't. I watched another BBC movie (The Inheritance) but it just wasn't the same.
I've a fever...and the only prescription is more Jane Austen.
So starting in May, I will be reading one Jane Austen book a month. If you would like to join me in this endeavor...please let me know! We can conclude the month with the coinciding movie!
Details to follow!
