Kurt Vonnegut: I remember my best friend when I was about 17 raving on about Cat's Cradle, which at some point I read. I thought it was OK. Later (by many years) I read Slaughterhouse 5, which I thought pretty brilliant. Later still I read Breakfast of Champions, which I thought one of the funniest and best books ever.
So, I guess that leaves me in the category of those outside the, er, magic circle. I suppose I ought to read this book being reviewed but modern novels aren't that important to me unless they somehow feed me spiritually, and I recently read that Vonnegut is an atheist.
