If you start one I would join in. Just finished the main series and have the ICE books on my shelf read to tackle. (I have read Dancer's Lament though).

There isn't. We talked about it at one point, but that was before most of the mods stepped away from goodreads. I'm not really active in this group myself anymore. I never did finish our last read: Forge of Darkness
Personally I'm a bit torn on it. I've heard the ICE books aren't as good, especially the early ones. I know one of my other groups will be reading his newest one. At least it's been brought up.

I do own the first ICE book I believe, but atm I don't have the time or energy to read it. If you want me to add it to the group shelf and create a discussion group though, let me know.
In particular I'd need to know the approximate dates you expect the group read to run. I'm not sure if you want to a single thread for each chapter like we did for previous reads, or use some other discussion format. I'll leave that up to you.

I reckon you should go for a group read.I'll sit here in the background having already read the ICE books (not including the 2016 one..is it out already?) and laugh at all your disappointment in them not being Erikson books... Most of them were quite a let down for me, unfortunately.
I am up for starting end of May too. If we set it to start then I am sure a couple more people will jump on board.
I support this so much! I already read NoK for second time and I am planning to read rest of ICE's books.

Yeah, we'll do that then. Hopefully more people will join in as we..."
With a book that short, I'd do a 2-3 week read max. Maybe even just post threads all at once.
From what I've heard, the level of depth and foreshadowing arent anywhere near Erikson. So even 1 thread per chapter may be too much.
Don't be afraid to change up the format either.
When I did the breakdowns, I tried to keep the amount of reading balanced each week as much as possible.
Once you decide on dates, I'll add it to the bookshelf.

I have finished the series so is natural for me to check out ICE - I think it will be interesting to get peoples opinions who are at different stages in the Malazan adventure.

They say Return of the Crimson Guard happens between Reaper's Gale and Toll The Hounds so if you read NOK > RG > ROTC > THH - That is the perfect timeline.

I likely did, but I'm not as careful of a reader as some of the original group discussion folks. Plus my memory sucks. So I don't tend to reply anymore for concern I might say something incorrect at this point.

I'd be interested in following at least some. Have finished the main Erikson series and read NoK, yet to try any other ICE books though. Not sure I'll read all at once but would certainly join in for book 2.
Zayne wrote: "Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. LIfe got really busy. I know I'm a bit late, but would anyone still like to read Night of Knives? We could start whenever y'all are ready."I would like to. We can have a slow reading schedule, but I think it's important to have those group readings here.
I'm doing a NOF read in another group starting September 6th. If it can be coordinated I'd contribute in both spots.

It's not another Malazan group. Where most of the threads here are years old I read them but we've been working through the complete series in the forum below.

Zayne wrote: "Johny, I'm cool with a slow reading schedule. How were you wanting to split it?"The book is only just over 300 pages so I'm not sure how slow you can make it.
I'd be up for a group read of the ICE books. I can send out a message to the group list to let everyone know. How about starting beginning of Sept?
Okay, I'll set up a reading schedule similar to our previous reads and send it a group notice. Lol forward to meeting back in a Malaz group discussion.

How many chapters it has? I don't know, two weeks max for each chapter?
6 chapters, all pretty short. We are going to read the whole book in two weeks.
Then for the other books, we'll go to a 4 chapters per week read.
Then for the other books, we'll go to a 4 chapters per week read.
Good plan. I will read the discussion for NOK as able (going overseas) and will grab Crimson Guard after that.
I'm in for NOK's but then I'm actually doing the entire series by the recommended reading order. So I'll be doing Bonehunters, Reaper's Gale, Crack'd Pot Trail (B&KB book) and then Crimson Guard.
I haven't seen a start date for StonewielderI plan on staring Jan 6th if others are interested. I'm about 15% done with Toll the Hounds right now and need some space between Malazan books but could alter my plans a little bit in either direction if there's interest.
