I have my reading plan all created and ready to go. Looking forward to the first of May!!!! By the way, going to put more of the boards up tomorrow. Sorry for not putting the up today like I promised. Currently I am dealing with my 10 month old daughter teething, so I have been consoling her a lot today and didn't get a chance to put them up, however tomorrow I will be able to get a chance. In fact as I type this post on my iPhone, I am saturated with my daughters' drool. LOL. The joys of fatherhood!!!! I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!! I am sure all of you parents out there in this group can sympathize. Talk to you all soon.
I am so excited to start this book! I need to finish the last couple chapters from A Clash of Kings today and then I am diving right in!
I'm debating as well. I'm currently halfway through my second reading of DwD, so it's tough to stop and move backwards.
Oh wow. that is a step back. I am not reading any of them right now. I finished this one but haven't started A Feast for Crows yet.
Thanks Roseanne for setting up that reading plan - I already read Storm of Swords and am planning to re-read /skim along with your reading guide.
No problem. I am a lot less structured than others and would never be able to stick to it. I hope it is helpful for others.

I'm yet to finish ACoK, it seems like it will take time, I'm hoping I'll be on track with ASoS.ACoK is lacking action, besides Tyrion and Arya so it's going a little slow.
So I've already read this and when I did I was all about using post it's to tab favorite parts. There are so many tabbed parts and I'm excited to come across them again and share them!

Roseanne wrote: "I love that you use post its! I read on a kindle. No post its for me"On a Kindle you can still highlight quotes and bookmark pages!
I use the little Post It flags. There are just basic ones, some shaped like arrows, but I like the Wal-Mart brand version of the flags best. They're more opaque and stick better in my opinion.
I love my kindle and I do highlight and bookmark but it's not the same as having post its hanging out all over the place.

How are you guys making out with this book? I am trying to squeeze in a minimum of 50 pages a day for this book. So far, so good.
I love the Sansa chapters.

I understand some people have this version:
A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow (A Song of Ice and Fire #3, Part 1 of 2)
A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow (A Song of Ice and Fire #3, Part 1 of 2)
by George R.R. Martin
A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow
and A Storm of Swords is split into 2 books.
From what I have read:
"At the time of its publication, A Storm of Swords was the longest novel in the series. It was so long that in the UK, Australia and Israel its paperback edition was split in half, Part 1 being published as Steel and Snow in June 2001 (with the one-volume cover) and Part 2 as Blood and Gold in August 2001 (with a specially-commissioned new cover). The same division was used in the Polish and Greek editions. In France, the decision was made to cut the novel into four separate volumes."
If you have this version please enlighten us. What chapter does the book end at? Roseanne has the chapters listed above
Thanks.

The last chapter is 41 - Jon, the book has 569 pages without the maps and the appendix.
Actually, I think the French have divided all the books into several parts, they have about... 15 or 16 volumes. I have the 13th one and it's supposed to be part 1 from ADwD. I'd take a photo, but we're renovating and everyhting is stashed into boxes somewhere, so I've no idea where it is. Don't even remember what it's called. Anyway. I kind of get why they did that, because it's much more comfortable to read, though on the other hand, you have to pay for 16 books instead of 5. You know, when we're done with the renovation, I'll take a photo of all the different editions I have, it'll make an interesting comparison.

What do you mean by "both"? The one I have in French was a gift, so I don't know if they have box sets. I only have that one book.

Do you have to buy both book #1 of a Storm of Swords and book #2 of a Storm of Swords separately or do the two come together as a box set?
♪ Leslie (aka Basesloaded32) wrote: "Do you have to buy both book #1 of a Storm of Swords and book #2 of a Storm of Swords separately or do the two come together as a box set?"Oh, uhm, no, I had to buy them separately. Thanks for clarifying.
I thought the two books came together. They don't? I read on a kindle so I really wouldn't know. I don't ever want to read a paper version of a book this big ever again. Actually I don't like holding books at all anymore. It is so annoying. I like to have them on a shelf so I can look at them but I don't want to hold them.

That blows Ria. But yes holding them would be a lot lighter. I only have the paperback version of A Storm of Swords and it is plenty heavy.
Roseanne I love my Ereader too but I go back and forth with paper vs Ebook. I like the paper because you can lend and borrow more easily. If it is a legally purchased Ebook it is pretty much yours and yours alone. But I love my Kobo because you never have to worry about the light in the room or font size and can adjust, adjust, adjust.
As long as I am reading and GRRM is writing then life is good.

I now have finished A Storm of Swords. I had a lot more time on my hands than I normally do. And I could not help but think of how hard it must have been for those of you that read these books as they were released. Did the wait for those next books nearly kill you?

Yeah I'm still super behind.... BUT I plan on catching up with enough time to read Feast for Crows with y'all within the second month (at least).
