I know this is a very old question but just to throw my two cents in: I thin Joanne above has it right. Life goes on. There's some coming to terms with what life has thrown at them, there's some disappointment, there's anticipation and eagerness for what the future holds, there are plans being made while others are settling. I don't think there's any kind of grand meaning other than the people in this community will continue to make their way through life the best they can.
