Hi! Im Angelie, I live in a small town of Clarin, Philippines. Im 21 years old and Im a nurse (well newly registered though). Way back college, I dont get enough time to read other books aside from Medical/Nursing books that I must painstakingly endure (haha!). I've only been a member for 2 or 3 weeks maybe? and kinda lost track since I've been around doing other stuff.

I love booksales! and i love reading, which accounts for my failing eyesight by the way...
I just read Christopher Moore's The Stupidest Angel and looking forward to reading more of his works, right now I think Im starting off with Lamb once i get myself an ebook reader.

Ilona Andrews - if I had to take any books with me to a desert island it would be Ilona's Kate Daniel's series. Love her world building. I would read anything by them - if they put out an 800 bio-chem text book I would be first in line!

Patrica Briggs' work (I think I've read them all now that her old stuff has been re-released)

Karen Marie Moning's fever series. LOVE IT! Have to say that I was a bit let down by parts of Shadowfever, but still ranks a solid 9.5/10

Moira J. Moore - I just discovered her stuff and I think it may technically be more of a fantasy series, but why not include it!

Carrie Vaughan's Kitty Norville series. This ranks as my most *believable* urban fantasy series

Jennifer Rardin's Jaz Parks series - I loved each book in this series more than the last. I thought the way she created such a strong but flawed heroine was great. I love when authors create heroes who are more than just butt-kickers

Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vamps. I've stopped reading these for now as I can't stand the cliff hangers and am waiting to read them all at once.

Hello, everyone. My name is Alice, and I'm from the most western part of Canada. (Maple syrup anyone?) I dabble in gaming and art, but my biggest hobby is reading. This year was a bit of a dry-spell for me, though, since I only completed THREE books. Sad, right? In 2012 I plan on reading at the very least, 50.
The author that got me into UF is Kelley Armstrong. I picked up one of her books on a whim because she was a Canadian author, and boy am I glad I did. (Her YA series is actually very good, considering it's YA, haha)
I mostly enjoy horror, fantasy, and Sci-fi books, but I will pick up a realistic fiction now and then.

I agree with you, Alice. Kelley's YA series was good. I didn't mind at all that it was written for a younger audience. I originally bought the series for my niece. I read it and liked it so much I kept the first set and had to go out and buy my niece another set...lol

My favorite authors so far are Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Chloe Neill, Seanan McGuire, and Kalayna Price. I love kick-ass heroines and slow-burn romances. I'm excited to be able to share my love of urban fantasy with others.

I have read the first 2 Jim Butcher (Harry Dresden) books. I have heard that it gets really good in the fourth book. I have the third book in my ever-growing TBR pile. One of these days...

I love Moira J. Moore's books, too. Just very fun. I usually laugh out loud a few times while reading her books. I too enjoy Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, and Chloe Neill. Something tells me I should check out your other favorites... : )

Have you tried Kristen britain's Green Rider's series? They're another of my favourites and for some reason have always struck me as similar to Moore's works

I have the first book in my pile, but I have noticed that it takes quite awhile for her books to come out. I don't mind reading urban fantasy books as they come out, but I like to read fantasy books all at once (especially with such a long period of time in between books). I thought the 4th book might be the last one, but it doesn't look like it is. Does she do a good job of summarizing the other books in the beginning of each book to remind us of what's going on?

I heard that Ace dropped Moira J. Moore even with only one more book left to go in that series. Very distressing! But she did say that she would post the final book on her website if she can't get a publisher to pick her up. I wouldn't mind paying for that final book, but she says she would post it for free if she doesn't get a publisher.

The stories have interconnected characters, and the plots are somewhat stand alone, but if you can wait it might not be a bad idea to put them on your TBR and wait until the series is finished as she does summarize it wouldn't be enough for me to remember details 5 years later

I heard that too about Moore - she seems to have had a few problems with them - which is too bad because it really is a great series that I don't think gets the recognition it deserves (maybe because it's not quite UF and not quite fantasy? or maybe due to the cover art, which I have to say isn't my favourite).

I hope she does finish the series - although the way that Heroes at Odds ended wouldn't be the worst way to end the series if that is indeed as far as it goes. At least there is no cliffhanger

She's definitely setting up something with the emperor though. I bet there will be a big payoff in Moore's final book. I'm quite certain the cover art hindered her book sales. Why do some authors get great covers and then the others... not so much?

I'll definitely wait on those Britain books then. : ) Kevin Hearne's books are also quite humorous.

Bummer to hear about Moira Moore. If her print publisher won't buy the last book in her series, I wonder if she's thought about making an ebook? Fans get the book, author gets paid, seems like win/win to me!

Adding a bit, you can find at least some of Moira Moore's books as Kindle ebooks. Don't know the series well enough to tell about the last one. It's not the same as holding the book, but better than not finding the ending.

I think Moira Moore said she didn't feel comfortable charging money for an ebook if it didn't go through a publisher (i.e., the readers would have an unedited version of her work or at least not officially edited). I thought that was pretty cool of her to post it for free, although I would pay for an ebook (even not officially edited). Hopefully, another publisher will pick her up and we won't have to worry about it. : )

I'm fairly new to Urban Fantasy, mostly reading epic fantasy or sci fi in the past. I've started commenting a bit on the threads and thought perhaps I should introduce myself.

I'm a science teacher from Canada, and I love to read! I'm hoping I'll find some great new (to me) series from you all.

I've read and loved the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, the Hollows by Kim Harrison, Monster Hunters International series by Larry Correia, the Kitty series by Carrie Vaughn, the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, and I'm about to finish the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews.

I've been thinking about starting the Hounded series by Kevin Hearn, as well as the Soulless series. Any other recommendations are always welcome!

Hi, I'm Shelia from Cleveland, OH and I'm absolutely terrible at reading. That is unless a story somehow finds its way to me (by subtly hitting me in the face like a Mack truck). Then it must burrow itself deep enough into my interest, driving me to the point where I become so anxious I can't help but run out and collect them all then tear through hidden away like a hermit.

Hey everyone! My name is Liberty. I am 40 years old, been married to my best friend for 17 years and we have a 16 year old son and 2 fur baby daughters. I was a stay at home mom until last year and then I took a job as a receptionist/attendance clerk at a middle school here in Indiana. I love it so much-the hours are perfect and I get summers off!
When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with my family catching up on the DVR and of course reading reading reading. I will read just about anything. I started reading UF/PNR books probably a couple years ago when a girl named Darcy introduced me to the Ghost Walkers series. I have since become hooked on UF and seem to be reading mostly that lately.

Hello everyone! Name's Lynn and I'm currently studying Design. I LOVE reading and I've been interested in fantasy books since I was a kid and more recently...UF/PNR. I enjoy contemporary/historical romances as well.

I've been in sort of a reading limbo a year ago and a bunch of UF reads got me back into reading again. I enjoy books by Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Chloe Neil, Jeaniene Frost, Nalini Singh and etc. My latest favorite author would be Carolyn Crane! Just read #1 of the Disillusionist trilogy and it was fantastic. :)
