ABANDONED. MG, sort of historical fiction with a girl as main character, with her dad trying to find undiscovered plants

I read this book 1 or 2 years ago.
I think it was set in a countryside and about half a century ago, about a girl who helps her dad find undiscovered plants. However, since she is a girl, there is pressure on her to give up what she is doing and cook/clean/do chores for their household.

(view spoiler)[She finds an undiscovered mutant of a plant, and is so exited she trips and twists her ankle on a rabbit/mole hole or something like that when running back to show her dad. But she forgets to record exactly where she found it and gets scolded before remembering it was near the animal hole she tripped on, and they find it again and show it to some other people, like other scientists or the press or something like that. I'm sorry I don't remember much, but I think the cover had a girl silhouette on it and was in either Europe or USA/Canada
