You all know the story- you go into the weekend with goals. You will read all those books. You will make a dent in that teetering tower. And then it happens. What I like to call the "shiny object syndrome." Basically a distraction presents itself and instead of completing your goals, you follow the distraction. The distraction can be anything. For me, it's generally the television. I sit on the couch, turn on the tv, and go, "Oh, I've seen that episode before. Better watch it again!" All this to say that I had pretty lofty goals for reading this weekend and then I let a shiny object distract me.

What are your "shiny objects?" And how do you conquer them? Let us know!

May your reading week be free from distractions! :)

I had reading goals this weekend on my drive home from DC - but the troll wanted to listen to the Lukas Graham CD and we listened to the same three songs on repeat for the entire 5 hours it took us to get home - while it wasn't my shiny object it distracted me. I have hopes for the rest of the week on my travels to and from work - I will finish those two audio books I'm working on.

I gave up on reading at home because I discovered I can watch Outlander on demand now - MY SHINY OBJECT - so all my free time when the troll is not around goes to that.

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments I've been getting in extra reading & books on CD's during all my children's activities, but when they are at school I get distracted by tv, FB & solitaire.
