About the Romance
(view spoiler)[For a book meant to really be about Eadlyn finding love and herself, it seriously lacked romance. I loved what Kile and Eadlyn had in book 4, and how Eadlyn seemed to try more then. This book just had so little of the actual selection, that it didn't feel like it was actually happening, just that some boys were staying in the palace as background characters for the occasional kiss or hug. About the Final Guy
(view spoiler)[I always did want Erik or Kile to end up with Eadlyn, but I felt Kile had so much build up, even through out book five, that his dismissal was so short and unexplained. I also thought Eadlyn almost suddenly loved Erik, and although she mentioned moments they shared, those moments weren't written as if they meant something to Eadlyn, as if suddenly, Kiera Cass was lacking evidence of Eadlyn and Erik's love. In the end, however...
(view spoiler)[I did enjoy this book, even with the ridiculous romance it had. I liked seeing the politcal side, although that wasn't what I truly signed up to the series for. I did like getting to hear more from Maxon and America, and also Lady Brice (what a shock! I hadn't even known the old King had had a mistress, and now I feel even worse for Maxon's mother!). I also loved the character development we saw in Eadlyn, from a basically spoiled princess used to getting what she wants to a strong queen, and a fighter for her people and herself. Overall, I am sort of glad that Kiera Cass continued, I just wished the series had had a better send off, like The One and all its epilogues had perfectly accomplished. (Maybe there is still hope for a wedding epilogue again?? With some much needed explaining???) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Ooooh I'm really enjoying this. I loved the previous books in the series a lot and I'm glad that so far it's not a disappointment. And wow I love here character, her sassiness, and how she stands for her opinion, I'm glad that she fired that advisor. And I'm rooting for Kile. I'm shipping for them. And I really don't want anything to start between her and that Illea boy, and her and Erik... But she can get him into her political group, he'd be great. (hide spoiler)]

Again I am #TeamKile, even though, I love all the boys, but I think I should accept my defeat, because if she does have doubts it means it is not him.
And OMG their high-five, I love this father daughter relationship going on here, as well as her and Ledger's! I love my previous selection and current's "clashes" like this!

Kile-my ultimate favourite
Henri-while I like him, I don't think he can be a good partner, and Queen needs one, maybe for the commoner language couldn't be a barrier, but with the difficulty they both are having learning the other's language, I don't see this going anywhere beyond friendship's borders.
Fox-is he even there, we don't see him at all, I don't think he has a chance.

But there are 2 other males
Erik-whom I like but do not ship with her (duh, I ship her with Kile
Maria-and this guy, that appeared really unexpectedly, and I think something is fishy here, I don't see them going in any romantic way, but her sudden presence does not sit with me really well.

So it is Kale or Erik...

Chapter 17-24
(view spoiler)[ Noooo, I saw this coming... Why? I loved the idea of selection, not someone out of it, even though I really liked Erik, and tbh Queen has to make sacrifices for her country but I don't say it is really fair, it is but it is not. And what about Kile? What is going to happen with him? I think he really started to like her. And Josie, I never hated her, she just was a little girl who did not have a chance to make real friends, and even if she was irritating Eadlyn was too harsh towards her. The concern about her brother was really sweet.
So it's Erik, I don't ship them, but whatever. I mean if it started a little bit earlier, not just mentioned about her feelings that started awhile ago, it would have make sance but now,it seems kind of rushed. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I liked it, not as much as I was expecting, the beginning was perfect, but it became a drag at the end kind of, but I liked it. I knew that Marid was a scum, I knew it. As for my fellow colleague and my ultimate favourite - Kile, I love you and I am happy that you got out of there to chase your dreams. I was I am #TeamKile, but with the one who he wants to be and I understood that this was not for him.

Ending Thoughts: (view spoiler)[ This was a great read. I think this book lacked in the romance aspect of the book, as there was not much of it. The plot twists were great. The characters were great. I love the old characters from the original selection and how they interact in Eadlyn's selection. I am happy for Eadlyn and Erik and their happily ever after. I thought the epilogue was amazing. (view spoiler)[ I have to say that it seems our main lead is not as utterly annoying and spoiled as she was in the previous book. It seems she is definitely learning and developing into a better person. THANK YOU GOODNESS! I was dreading reading this book because I couldn't stand Eadlyn but is better now.

I have to say I think someone is trying to bring the monarchy down in the court. I am not sure about Marid suddenly coming into this story. Is he going to be like August in the selection?

Lastly, I wonder was wrong with Ahren. Did Maxon lie about his phone call? hmm... (hide spoiler)]
