SherryRose | 930 comments It goes to my own as well. I think it's goodreads.

I can see that the URL contains the word "edit," which is at least part of the problem. Ann, try going to "My Books," scrolling to the book, and clicking the "view review" option to the right. Then copy and paste the URL.

Wow, Deborah that's great detective work - I would never have spotted that. Thanks for everyone's input and help.

Here's a link to the review -

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) William said, "Same thing happened when I tried it."

Well, that's odd William because I repasted the link.

It worked for me (took me to Ann's review) Thanks for sharing!

William Davis | 132 comments Had to go to your home page to access it, but I liked the review

I clicked and it went to your review.

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) Hey - I made it in the end!

That's team work - thanks to everyone for their input in getting the review link as it should be.

SherryRose | 930 comments Ann, I agree with your review. I think it's really good for a first book though, and I bet Fiona Barton will get better as she keeps writing. I'll read her next book for the simple reason that her style is a little different.

Summer (paradisecity) | 48 comments Just finished this one. I really enjoyed the book and everybody else's comments. Thanks for all your insights!

(view spoiler)

Overall though, I enjoyed this much more than Gone Girl, which I absolutely loathed. I think this was better written and a more gripping read. Nicely done for a date you!

SherryRose | 930 comments True Esse, about the spoiler. It wasn't made clear.

message 115: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 48 comments I just finished this one. It took me a while to get a copy from the library as it is a more recent release. It was well worth the wait in my opinion, though! Brilliant read that kept me riveted. I was questioning everything the whole way through, and I loved it! I agree with other comments about the characters being deeply flawed. There isn't really a sympathetic character with the possible exception of the detective. I will definitely read this author again.

message 116: by SherryRose (new)

SherryRose | 930 comments I liked it too Kelly. It's not a typical mystery book. The style is unique in a good way.

message 117: by Jan C (new)

Jan C (woeisme) | 39173 comments I finally finished this one yesterday.

I checked it out of the library on overdrive twice. I wanted to know the ending. So, although there were no characters I found likeable (maybe Mick was an exception - he did bring sandwiches) I found Barton a good storyteller. She must have been. I wanted to know how it ended.

message 118: by Gisela (new)

Gisela Hafezparast | 368 comments I agree, I have also just finished it and I can't say I warmed to the characters much. Couldn't bring myself to feel that sorry for the wife, being stupid is no excuse although I realize if you are abused for years, it is difficult to get away. I did like the police man though thinking about it. I would have liked to know more about the relationship between husband and wife. Overall much better than Gone Girl (I also really hated it) but, I don't think I read another one from this author.

Jan C (woeisme) | 39173 comments I can't compare to Gone Girl - I never thought it sounded like something I would like. Haven't seen the movie either.

The cop was TOO obsessive. And I don't think his wife could believe it when he said they were going back from their vacation.

I would give this author another chance. This was her first book. She was a good storyteller but her characters need work. Hopefully, that will come with time.

message 120: by SherryRose (new)

SherryRose | 930 comments Me too Jan. I'll give this author another another try.

message 121: by Linda (new)

Linda Casillas | 2 comments I thought this book was just ok. Nothing I didn’t see coming.

message 122: by Jené (new)

Jené | 46 comments Linda - are you going to read another book from the author? I've been debating about the 2nd book she wrote, but so many good options out there
