Anne (shycat) | 71 comments I have not been able to find my cover of this book anywhere. The closest I can come has a different ISBN and page count. So, I scanned my copy and uploaded it to dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iyqi2ymjg73...

ISBN: 978-0-316-12908-4
Page Count: 561

All the other information should be the same as on the default page for this ISBN. Please let me know if you need absolutely anything else! Thank you!

Tal (taliesien) Just some additional suggestions...you might want to scan and upload the copyright page as well. The edition notices and number line can provide more detail in many cases. Is this a trade paperback or mass market? If you don't know, do you remember where you purchased it? The cover clearly shows it was printed after the tv series was announced in 2014 but before the later media tie in edition to coincide with the series launch.

Anne (shycat) | 71 comments I got it from Amazon (directly, not from a merchant), which is why I was confused that Amazon didn't seem to have that cover shown anywhere. I purchased it in February 2016. What is the difference between trade paperback and mass market paperback?

I took a picture of the copyright page and will upload it when I have a little more time.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Tal (taliesien) Ah well Hachette, not a great copyright page but knowing it's the 17th printing is better than nothing. If it were me I'd email the publisher (Orbit) and ask them for a better date on that cover printing for the ACE record. All you can confirm at this point is that it was at least 2014.

The difference between trade paperback and mass market is size and quality. Your photo indicates a trade paperback. Books you see at supermarkets and chain retailers are generally mass market, while trade paperbacks are generally "bookstore" quality with larger dimensions with higher grade paper and binding. You do find some trade paperbacks at chains like Target & Walmart now as the distribution lines are blurring.

Anne (shycat) | 71 comments *frets* I'm sorry, I don't really understand. All I want is to be able to record the proper ISBN and page count for my records. What do I need to do to make that happen?

message 7: by Tal (new)

Tal (taliesien) Lol, sorry too much info? A librarian, or anybody really, can create the ACE (alternate cover edition) for you with the info you have. It's just that with an alternate cover it's nice to have a date it was available with the new cover. Whenever I create ACE records I try to track down a date for the new/different cover.

I'm on my phone now but if a librarian hasn't added an ACE for your edition by the time I get home later I'll do it and post back here. Just looking at that book record I already see some invalid editions and dups so it needs some cleanup anyway.

Anne (shycat) | 71 comments Heh, thanks.

Tal (taliesien) ACE added: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

I did email the publisher asking for a more specific date for that cover, if I hear back I will have the edition pub date updated.

Oh dear, you have a bit of a mess going on huh? It's more complicated than a new cover I'm afraid, you have duplicate editions and editions that need combining and the complication of two author profiles. Looks like you first published under your real name and then switched to a pen name. If you bear with me for a bit I can help you sort out what you need a librarian to fix and I will post a new topic for you in the appropriate section since this thread was specific to a particular book.
