Koda | 1 comments Hello all, I hope everyone is having a great week and some good reads! :) I was looking for some people's opinions on some questions, I do apologize if you are seeing this on more than one group you are in as I am trying to get various thoughts and opinions on this.

From what I have seen, most books that are about or even vaguely consisting of shapeshifters seem like there is only one or two types at a time. On top of that, they seem to typically consist of wolves, bears, lions, dragons, maybe the occasional tiger... Are there any books with all types of animal shifters or do they mainly focus on one type?

Is there any interest in an actual world of animal shapeshifters? Or do readers want more magical beings as well such as vampires, witches, and other mythical type beings and beasts?

Do readers tend to prefer a longer book or a series of shorter installments? I suppose the better question to ask would be Do readers feel more comfortable purchasing a book from a first time author if it is offered in shorter installments (therefore giving a cheaper price to "try" them out)? Or do readers prefer to just buy one larger book?

Thank you for your time and input. Any opinions you share are most appreciated!

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 145 comments For books with a variety of shifters, you might look into the Psy-Changling books by Nalini Singh. In addition to predatory shifters like wolves and leopards, there are deer, rat, and swan shifters as well as eagle and falcon shifters (all are called changlings). There are also ocean dwelling changlings.

Raquel (Rocki) (raquelrocki) | 1005 comments I like books with weird shapeshifters and not just the usual I am a writer as well and have wrote some stories with other shapeshifters that I have not heard of in books before because of this.

To the other question I think larger books are intimidating not that, that turns me away from them but sometimes I put off the book a bit longer than needed to get to some others instead. I do not like installments on books unless it is a whole book and then writing a sequel to it. Installments I think would drive me crazy with having to wait for the next one to find out what happens next.

Sandra | 25908 comments I hate serial books, ie one book broken up into parts. I run screaming if I see those, usually even when the first bit is free.

As to multi shifters, some authors like Eve Langlais and Zenina Masters (aka Viola Grace) as well as Nalini Singh mentioned above, do multi shifter series books and I love them.

Ultimately, it just depends on the style of the author and the story, not necessarily on the type of shifters.

Good Luck Koda :)

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ I read a lot of MM books and the majority or them that I read are to do with shifters, I love finding really long series that have a very wide range of unusual shifters. I tend to find my series have the page count between 0 to 250 pages especially when there are a lot of books in the series they are a lot shorter but I'm completely fine with that, since I do tend to put off reading longer books.
