Koda | 1 comments Hello all, I hope everyone is having a great week and some good reads! :) I was looking for some people's opinions on some questions, I do apologize if you are seeing this on more than one group you are in as I am trying to get various thoughts and opinions on this.

From what I have seen, most books that are about or even vaguely consisting of shapeshifters seem like there is only one or two types at a time. On top of that, they seem to typically consist of wolves, bears, lions, dragons, maybe the occasional tiger... Are there any books with all types of animal shifters or do they mainly focus on one type?

Is there any interest in an actual world of animal shapeshifters? Or do readers want more magical beings as well such as vampires, witches, and other mythical type beings and beasts?

Do readers tend to prefer a longer book or a series of shorter installments? I suppose the better question to ask would be Do readers feel more comfortable purchasing a book from a first time author if it is offered in shorter installments (therefore giving a cheaper price to "try" them out)? Or do readers prefer to just buy one larger book?

Thank you for your time and input. Any opinions you share are most appreciated!

E.A. Turley (eaturley) | 11 comments As a paranormal author and reader, I've come across coyotes, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels apes, gorillas, elephants, bulls (the book I found that one in had him as an elderly streaker in a small shifter town! Brilliant series though!) crocodiles, alligators sharks, leopards panthers tigers lions ligers, wolves, bears , snakes, hawks, golden eagles, phoenix, dragons, rhino's, hippo's, rats, (erm... drumming my fingers now... running out of shifters! lol)
Basically, if you can imagine it turning to a shifter then do it... there are no rules in fantasy except to use your common sense.

There's also a lot of interest in them and all the other supernatural beings out there. My new series is about all of them and centered around a Dating Agency for true mates.

It also depends on what your book is about as to whether they'd want a smaller installment or one long book. Your price is up to you to set, though. Are you just out for the money or do you want to give your readers a "gift" every now and then via a free book or countdown offer?

Alyson Stone (alysonserenastone) | 194 comments Well, I like both series and stand alones. It is kind of hard to find a good stand alone though.

C.B. Archer | 16 comments Personally I think that there is a lot left to explore out there. Shifters are a varied bunch and the more that is out there, the better. Hooray for authors that have different types.

I know that vampires and werewolves just hate each other with a passion. But did you know that there are other famous undead vs werecreature blood feuds out there to write and read about?

Weretigers vs Ghosts (Werepumas also hate ghosts, but not Werecougars they get along fine)
Werebears vs Mummies (For obvious reasons)
Weresnakes vs Banshees (For unobvious reasons)
Wererats vs Zombies (Its the whole plague thing)
Wereboars vs Liches (Because of Extract M)
Weredolphins vs Vampires (But for different reasons than why Werewolves hate Vampires)
And of course, famously, Wereeagles vs Skeletons. (So much hatred there to explore creatively!)

(Note: Yes, I just made those all up, but still. We can explore them!)

I haven't written a lot of shifter fiction, so I am far from an expert. I just have two scenes with them thus far, but neither are published yet.

However, I am one to believe that if there is a werewolf living in your neighbourhood, then a werebear and a werepony should also live there. They all play poker together. The pony cheats.

E.A. Turley (eaturley) | 11 comments I've been chatting away to CB most of the day and shared a website link with him as we're both into paranormal creatures in our stories. It might help others as well, he's right in that there are a lot more than shifters to write about!

Take a look and you'll see some of the wonderful beings out there, I had a lovely time reading through it.
