Victoria Scott | 466 comments Yay, finished my first book! I just need to change my start date before I post it, I planned to start it way earlier than I actually did :)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I just found four of them at my library! :D

GJ Victoria! :D

I do that a lot. I have to constantly remind myself to check the start date or I get dinged a lot. :/

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I just put in my request for them at the library and I should hopefully have them by Monday or at latest Tuesday. :D

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Great job, Victoria!

That's awesome you found them at your library! Our libraries in South Carolina are almost all connected, so I usually have pretty good luck finding books there. New ones have to be in the county you're getting them from though, so that can limit new releases I have access to.

We have 5-6 libraries in the city I live in alone so I usually have a pretty good supply of books. I just don't like to use the library because I'm horrible at returning books on time. :/

message 107: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I remember you saying that. My library emails me three days before books are due, so I usually do pretty well.

My library doesn't have a system like that that I know of. I'd be nice if it did since I check my e-mail several times a day. :/

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments It's only been used here for a few years. But it's very helpful.

My power is out and all of the books I'm reading are physical copies. :(

:(

Can you light a candle or use a flashlight?

Oooh do you have one of those book lights? ^-^

message 111: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I wish I did have a book light! I don't think I have any spare batteries. :(

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yeah. I'm tired anyway, so I'll probably just go to bed. I was at a Civil War reenactment today and now I want sleep. :) But still, I had some chapters I wanted to read.

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Why is your power out? Are you having bad weather down there?

That's disappointing. :(

I hope you had fun at the Civil War reenactment though and have a good sleep! :D

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yep, Jackie. A crazy storm. Loads of lightning and rain.

Thanks, Bookbuyer! The reenactment was a lot of fun and very interesting. I prefer learning about the American Revolution and WWII, but it was still interesting and very educational.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Dawnie is kicking everyone's butts so far in the page count challenge. I'll have to read faster if I have any hope of catching up! :D

message 120: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Haha. Remember you can always use the highest page count.

message 121: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Haha, Dawnie is a pretty fast reader. But I bet you can catch up!

I do. But I've only read one book and Dawnie has read about 5 I think? I can't wait till that read a thon. I hope I can speed up my reading a bit then. :P

message 123: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'm sure you will! It should be a lot of fun!

I think I'm going to plan to read as many of my 100 page novellas that weekend as possible so that I can really boost my reading goal and aim for the 12 book mark I need for another challenge. :D

message 125: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Very nice! I'm sure you can breeze through a bunch of those, as long as they're good.

I'm getting so excited for the read a thon and it's still almost two weeks way! :(

Dawnie I just had a really good reading weekend with lots of procrastination with reading instead of doing any work I should and wanted to do. So now I have to catch up,so the reading will slow down, bookbuyer ;)

Looks like we will both be playing a lot of catch up this month then. :P

message 132: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Well I hope you both get a lot of reading done as well as everything else. Balancing life and fun can be hard. But reading is a must. :)

message 133: by Kaylin (last edited Jun 05, 2016 04:18PM) (new)

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) I read a lot more today than I anticipated!

Probably because my phone broke halfway through the day. Great for my reading habits, not so much for anything else.

message 134: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Well glad you were able to get a lot of reading done, Kaylin! What happened to your phone?

message 135: by Kaylin (new)

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) I'm honestly not sure. It just keeps trying to power on, but can't seem to completely get there. 0.o It just keeps turning off.

message 136: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Well I hope you're able to fix it ir get a new one. It can be hard without a phone, particularly if you use it for a lot of things.

message 137: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Kaylin, hope you can get your phone fixed or replaced soon.:)

Do all these work? Also does anyone want to buddy read any of these with me?

message 139: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Most seem like they will work. Not sure if HP 6 has dragons...let me check. And Darkest minds doesn't have white, but it would work for the other one.

message 140: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Like the Trivia today. Think I know the author, but not the book.:) Love your horse's name.

message 141: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments How is the reading going, everyone?

I'm currently trying to finish up book five in the Wheel of Time. Also working on Out of the Easy and The Truth About Forever. Then I'll be getting into Red Rising.

I'm finishing up Blackbird and I'm close to half way through with Game of Thrones and 'Salem's Lot.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Very nice, Jamie! So you have a lot going on reading wise too. :) Hope you're enjoying!

I tried Game of Thrones, but didn't enjoy it. :/

I thought I wasn't going to enjoy it and it was going to be another overrated book to me, but I'm starting to like it.

Blackbird is a different story. The beginning started out great but the plot kind of fell down and got boring.

message 146: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I hate it when that happens! A book will have loads of potential and then just fall apart. It's really unfortunate.

It is. Right now I'm happy that it wasn't to the point of DNF. I have had way to many of those this year than I like.

message 148: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I hate when that happens too. But sometimes a book jist isn't worth finishing.

message 149: by Kylara (new)

Kylara Jensen | 437 comments I never even attempted to read Game of Thrones, because I know myself and I hate Grimdark fantasy. (I don't like it when anybody dies.)

Then good call on not reading that series!

I want to pick that first book back up this month actually but haven't yet.

Which is strange, does anyone else has that? You are enjoying a book but once you put it down you always pick anything else up instead of that book?
