I loved Lucy Barton too, I am a fan of Kitteridge's quiet writing.

I also loved The Bell Jar when I read it decades ago.

Amy | 12953 comments Lisa Ann, I loved Circling the Sun... ) Also the Paris Wife the year or so before. I had picked the Marriage of Oppopsites for favorite of the year, with Circling a close second. Welcome! Can't wait to link and see your shelf. Best, Amy

JudithAnn | 44 comments I think my favorite is the book I started this year with: Slade House by David Mitchell. But I did love The Paris Wife too! I read it when I went to Paris in December. :-)

Marti (coloreader) So far this year, I think A Thousand Splendid Suns, although I did like The Kite Runner better. Perhaps A Man Called Ove. I enjoyed reading that. It's hard to pick, because I like and appreciate different books for different reasons.
