Were you surprised that someone would attempt to murder Hero, knowing the long arm of Jarvis? What did it tell you about who murdered the women at Magdalene House?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I don't know if everyone knew how long Jarvis' arm reached, and it's inconceivable that he would permit the murder of Hero. On the other hand, these men obviously thought themselves above the power of the law and the moral code, and they killed for the thrill of it in addition to trying to quash their assassination plans from being known by others.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Yes, I was surprised especially since Epson-Smith was well aware of Jarvis's "long arm"!

It showed me that the men behind the crime were not only ruthless but fanatical. Nothing undermines a person's thought processes more than fundamental beliefs.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments It wouldn't surprise me for other people to try it but I was surprised that someone who had worked so closely with Jarvis and knew of his resources would try it. But it also shows that not even Jarvis is 100% all-knowing since this happened right under his nose.

It was my first big clue as I thought that person would either have no fear of Jarvis (a very short list) or in a position of power in some way.

That was my thinking Jonetta! In the beginning I also wondered if they would try and frame Sebastian - two birds one stone.

Kris, we read to many of the same mysteries:) I thought that briefly, too.

LOL!!! Doesn't surprise me we are so suspicious!

I think that Harris is a better writer than that and would not use a trope she had used before.

Maybe that's why it ended up being merely a fleeting thought.

That's true.
