Will there ever be real A.I.s?

Do you think there will ever be artificial intelligences capable of emotions such as love and hate on a realistic level? Would it be a good thing?

I do think that artificial intelligence could potentially be able to show emotion, since there are many modifications that are done to technology to make it more human like. I do not think that it would be a good thing because they would be very similar to humans that they might start to replace humans.

I am not sure. On the one hand, if we define love as the ability and willingness to sacrifice a part of themselves for the sake of others than an AI could potentially be capable of displaying such behavior. On the other hand, all an AI is is a bunch of mathematical operations. On the other hand, if math is capable of love, is it really worth it?
