The Lightning Thief question

The only good thing about watching the movies is making fun of them.

yeah you right. compared to the books the movies were pretty awful couldn't even finish the first one..... what a dissapoitment :(

He was 12 when the story started, not 10, but yeah you're right, it should be like in harry potter, the actors have to grow with the story

I so agree i watched the movie first then i read the books and i fell in love with the books not the movie.
My question is how is Annabeth hair in the movie black and then in the book Percy describes her hair as blond?

imaging someone painting the apple.

it's two different mediums, you can't make a comparison like that. sure the apple itself could be rotten but the painting could make it look beautiful, or vice versa.

The movies are alright to watch with friends that aren't into reading, then they can share with you the awesomeness that is Percy Jackson.

U know why books are most of the times better than their movie versions because the movie needs to uphold the expectations from reading the book which is almost impossible. So, we cannot help that because we love our books so much and expect the same with the film and then curse the movies for not being able to deliver!
(There are exceptions of course like Harry Potter, The fault in our stars, Hunger games which definitely were hits.)

The movie downright sucked esp the first one .... they totally changed the ending and from then on i try not to watch movies which are based on novels. Even the divergent movie ....the ending was changed and hunger games ...the movie was good but the cast for peeta was dissappointing.

it makes me mad when they don't make the movie like the book. and the movie The Lightning Thief sucked.

Annabeth's most distinguishing features (in the book) were her grey eyes and her blonde hair. In the movie, they gave her blue eyes that belonged on Thalia, and auburn-ish hair.

The funny thing about the movies, they got me to read the books! I thought the idea behind the film was really cool, but the story and the characters lacked a bit. SO I picked up The Lightning Thief and my frustration with the films skyrocketed. It definitely didn't do the books justice, and for some reason I felt like the film makers just read a book they thought was cool and didn't really stick to the important things for the reader. (*cough cough* Percy's age, the fates, and other things..) If I could, I would go back to erase the movie from my mind and read the books.

In the books the story starts with percy as a 10 yr old boy not a 16 yr old teenager.
That was the age of prophecy.
I had good expectations but the movie screwed it all
