Well I just finished" Marked in Flesh" by Anne Bishop and "Scorpion Mountain" by John Flanagan over the weekend. I'll probably start" Medusa's Web" by Tim Powers since it has a hold on it. Now I just need to find a new paperback as my bus book since I finished" Death Crashes the Party" by Vickie Fee today. I guess I'll have to wander down the Mystery or Science Fiction aisle and see what kind of treasure I can find.

Oh, that was one of the first books I completely lost myself in. I had always enjoyed reading, but I missed meals for that book as a 13 year old. I've always been afraid to revisit it with adult eyes, though, afraid of what I might see in it that I didn't as a teen. I loved it completely when I read and I shall always treasure memory of that first experience of being swept away and utterly absorbed.
Currently holding my bookmark is City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett, the second in a series that is a must for fantasy readers.

I began reading Trespassing Across America this morning. It is about hiking the length of the Keystone pipeline. So far it sounds like Wild but with better planning.
I'm reading Map of Bones --Book 2 in the series :) also I'm reading Morningstar and OMG love this series.
Like Katie, I'm reading Smoke Gets In Your Eyes in anticipation of next month's program with Caitlin Doughty. I'm really enjoying it and its a remarkably fast read. I'm also reading one of my go-to mystery writers, Louise Penny. I'm on book number 6, Bury your Dead. It could prove to be a bit of a morbid month!
Last week I had the pleasure of reading The Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson. It's a portrait of England in that final summer before the start of WWI in 1914. It's a relaxing and enjoyable read with just a hint of romance. At the same time as the author celebrates this lost era, you can see the pettiness of village life, the restrictions of society and societal expectations and other things that would be forever changed by this war and it's truly devastating impact. I'd strongly recommend this to historical fiction fans and those searching for "gentle" reads.
Currently holding my bookmark is the audio version of Where'd You Go Bernadette

LOVED Bernadette!! Such a fun, quirky book!I've just started The Drunkard's Walk. I had to put it off a bit because I was reading too much nonfiction. I needed to break it up a bit!
I'm currently reading Tournament of Hearts which I was given in order to review it. After that I'm looking forward to reading more of Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling books and also finish All Souls trilogy which is really good but, I needed a break :)
I just finished listening to Girl at War. Excellent! A vivid portrayal of how war and kids really do not mix. I'm currently reading The Secret Place by Tana French. Those Irish sure know how to right the crime drama. The story involves the resurrection of a case that went unsolved the year before. A teen from the boys school was found murdered on the grounds of the girls school. French certainly knows her teenage angst and brings out the life and inner workings of privileged school boarders so well.

I finished listening this past weekend with a marathon 2 hour session & I too really enjoyed this book. What is more, I really enjoyed the audio. Kathleen Wilhoite (an actress whose voice you will recognize) is absolutely fantastic in capturing the emotions/expressions of the characters and in that respect creates different voices for each of the characters even if she doesn't much modulate her own. I could step away from the book a few days and still know instantly who was talking when I turned it back on. A highly recommended listen!
