Quantum (quantumkatana) i just started getting into zombies last year w/a pretty light read, Eat, Brains, Love, then i started Warm Bodies but couldn't get into a zombie as an MC so DNF'd it. i guess, in general, i started the slow yet steady downhill spiral into the supernatural/horror genre w/Interview with a Vampire a few years ago. i did another hardcore vampire one, Let the Right One In last year. i did quite like it except for the annoying interludes w/the alcoholics.

then the software engineers at work that i started to hang out with were really into The Walking Dead. they developed this app--unrelated to zombies--and i told them that i'd write a short story about zombies involving their app.

anyways, so that's how i ended up here asking about hardcore zombie stories by aussies.

thanks in advance!

James (kihadu) | 19 comments I don't have a zombie bookshelf but can't remember any full novels about zombies written by Australian authors - I do know Angela Slatter has definitely written one (some?) short stories, but honestly you'd have to trawl to find it/them (I think The Girl With No Hands and other tales has a zombie story). I'm not an aggressive reader of short stories so I'm little help here, but depending on how eager you are, you could browse through old issues of Aurealis to find some.

MikeR Alex I don't know if this helps you exactly but try
Worlds ApartChuck McKenzieI think he is Australian, but don't quote me on that, also not a classical "zombie" Novel
Australian Dark Fantasy and Horror Volume 3 an anthology which includes Gary Kemble a british born author living in Australia and the anthology may give you a few authors to follow up
Everything Is a Graveyard After The World: Gravesend Jason Fischer
Best of luck in your hunt! Protect your Brains

MikeR Just been doing some research myself Alex and I came across Martin Livings a general supernatural author
Sean Williams Castle of the Zombies
and Garth Nix The Old Kingdom Trilogy (AKA Abhorsen Trilogy) starts with Sabriel but you may consider it a fantasy.
You may also try (depending on your interest in romance/erotica overtones) Kylie ScottFlesh
Erica Hayes the Seven signs series
