Mark Parker | 14 comments Be sure to check the Author's Corner and "Books mentioned in this topic". There are many authors in this group who can't promote their books, and rightfully so. You can look at your responder's publications and might find just what you are looking for.

Madeline Reynolds | 43 comments I have a few books that I would recommend :)
Rot & Ruin (Rot & Ruin, #1) by Jonathan Maberry

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

All of these books are perfect for MG readers who enjoy a novel with hints of suspense and a dash of romance.

There are so many great books for that age!

In addition to the ones listed above, I'll add anything by Tamora Pierce, Wonder, and Brian Jacques' Redwall series (which is in the children's room at our library, but requires a pretty good reader to make it through).

Gentle reminder to authors that this is not the place to tout your own books.

Gabrielle (fearlesshyeana) I'm really enjoying Robin Steven's Wells and Wong detective series which starts with Murder Most Unladylike. Has anyone in the group read these?

Without links I'm too lazy to look this up, but it doesn't sounds like middle-school fiction?

Although there is a murder in each of the books, they really are middle-grade and start off in a girls boarding school possibly set in the 40s? They're like Malory Towers meets Agatha Christie: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Murder-Most-...

Justin (justinswapp) | 33 comments If you like the darker side of middle grade, try Ravens Gate by Anthony Horowitz. It's got creepy overtones, for sure, but man, if you like that, its fantastic.

El • Your Average Bibliovert Can't directly reply but, Justin, I have that on my reading wishlist. I can't wait to read it!

I'm fairly sure Raven's Gate is in our library. Or was when I got South by South East out. I must check when they're next here. (We have a mobile library that comes round the villages once a month).
