Hey Marcia - thanks for the props on my portrayal of Casey! (I only just saw this thread now!).I've spent a lot of time over the years observing strong women in both real life and in literary/popular culture and my default strategy, I guess, is to write them as human first - able to do and be anything they want to be. Gender kind of becomes a secondary consideration.
I will confess though - I do really like to write women characters.
I entered, I really want to get to this one! Thanks for the chance :)
