Who do you think is the most sympathetic character in the novel and why?

I think Claudia and her sister were the most sympathetic characters in regards to Pecola. They had compassion for her and were the only ones who were trying to help her.



I definitely felt sorry for Pecola, but because she wasn't speaking for herself as a narrator, and because she chose the creepy blue eyes over trying to survive/thrive as herself, I lost some of my sympathy for her.
