Olivia-Savannah (olivia_catastrophe) Any thoughts or feelings as you are reading? Then feel free to post here! Also, do use spoilers if you feel like the information being shared could ruin the reading experience for others. :)

Jeff Scofield well... haven't breezed through a book that powerfully in a while. it was a read I couldn't put down for reasons I will most likely post in other board questions...

I will simply say thanks for putting it up, because I don't know if I would have paid attention to it otherwise and am happier now for doing so.

Jeff Scofield I loved all the Virginia Woolf drops throughout, and would love to hear which ones you all picked up the most on...

One of my favorites was how Violet would end many of messages just by leaving the her first initial "V". . . Virginia Woolf seemed like she made that a common thing to conclude her writings too.

Jeff Scofield To piggyback off of my Virginia Woolf post just now, I also wanted to include the letter she wrote before her suicide. Read it and see if you can take any elements from it that correlate to Finch or his relationship with Violet. . .

"Dearest, I feel certain that I am going mad again. I feel we can't go through another of those terrible times. And I shan't recover this time. I begin to hear voices, and I can't concentrate. So I am doing what seems the best thing to do. You have given me the greatest possible happiness. You have been in every way all that anyone could be. I don't think two people could have been happier till this terrible disease came. I can't fight any longer. I know that I am spoiling your life, that without me you could work. And you will I know. You see I can't even write this properly. I can't read. What I want to say is I owe all the happiness of my life to you. You have been entirely patient with me and incredibly good. I want to say that—everybody knows it. If anybody could have saved me it would have been you. Everything has gone from me but the certainty of your goodness. I can't go on spoiling your life any longer. I don't think two people could have been happier than we have been. V"

Jessica Jordan | 1 comments I'm glad that this book was chosen as well, it offers a lot of aspects that many books lack. I can imagine how difficult this book must have been to write because it deals with loss and grief. One thing that a lot of YA books portray is the two dimensional parents and how the teenager is the victim, I like how Finch understands that his mom is doing her best and she has problems too. I thought that this was a beautifully told story with characters that feel very real.

Olivia-Savannah (olivia_catastrophe) I really enjoyed reading this one too. I thought the quotes pulled out the journey was so beautifully down and it was such an emotional book as well. I really did appreciate all the references to Woolf as Jeff did too and have made it a point to note that I need to read some of her works in the future.

I never knew about the suicide letter from V herself and didn't even know what was how she met her end. I can definitely see the crossovers from there to Violet and Finch's story as well.

You should read the author's note as well if you get the chance to because there is more realism to this story than would have known without having done so <3

Agreeing with Jessica it can't have been easy to write. I'm sure this is a book that reaches out to many people.

Victoria Scott I whizzed through this book when I first read it. Even though it deals with such a serious subject, it was so easy to read, and I couldn't put it down. It also made me cry though, A LOT. And it's difficult for a book to make me cry!

Wendy (wmaresca) I just finished this book (view spoiler)
