Luke Comer (lukecomer) | 1 comments Yoke of Wind is a fiction novel written with powerful allegory, set with historical accuracy in the time prior to the Civil War, and influenced significantly by Luke's own ancestry and upbringing. The book explores several universal questions, including: Who would you be, if you stopped being who you were told to be? And how would you see the world, if you ceased looking for "god" outside of yourself?

The story plays off of two primary characters - a young white planation owner who to his dismay inherited the business of owning slaves from his father and struggles with this destiny he didn't choose, and a radically spiritual black slave who was the childhood best friend of the now planation owner and who longs for and acts to secure freedom for himself and the other slaves. It is told from a perspective and angle that isn't seen in any other novel based in this era, likely because the underlying message is truly timeless.
