Just for Andreas--pipes and cigarettes

I couldn't resist. Fred, our hero, devoted cigarette smoker. The pipe smokers seem to be of a different breed.

You're correct. I didn't know that kangaroos are pipe smokers until today, they only carry cigarettes around in their bags for convenience.
Zelazny must have been smoking a different type of weed when he wrote this.

I'm thinking Zelazny had a mild humorous grudge against pipe smokers...

I think I never saw him inhale until page 84 at Hal's. It was bothering me. He kept lighting cigarettes but never smoking them. But then there was a memory returned to him "between a puff and a sip". Finally!

Just finished. There is so much smoking in this book. It's the only retro thing about it :)
