That maybe something we find out in another book he thought he was with Kate so Prue is either lying or he was with her. We will have to keep and eye out for clues lol

Kiernan was just with Kate (and had been the whole last year). I'm guessing from the gold ring that they also might have been married. Kate definitely was the one that put the glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling and only one survived because it was stuck to Kiernan (and Kiernan was wearing the Chronos Key) during the time shift. The rest of the stars had disappeared as if they had never existed -- because the timeline has changed and Kate was probably not with Kiernan during the past year in this new timeline.

I'm guessing... I fear... that Kate did not have her Chronos Key on during this last shift. She was probably attacked too -- like Kiernan (the door to their apartment was damaged in the old timeline, though not in the new). Pru had meant to wipe out the history between Kate and Kiernan in both their memories -- only Kiernan had a spare Chronos Key taped to his leg, so he remembers. I'm guessing this is where Kate loses her memory of her history with Kiernan (as we discover in the first book).

Pru just says that she was the one to put the stars on the ceiling, because she knows about Kate and Kiernan -- but since she assumes they both don't remember because of the time shift, she is recreating the past year as if Pru and Kiernan had still been together and as if Kate and Kiernan never happened.

Kiernan, however, is just pretending not to remember. He had the spare Chronos Key taped to his leg, so he survived the shift, memory in tact -- but Pru doesn't know this. (Kiernan knows that he had been with Kate the whole last year and that Kate put up the stars, but he is pretending for Pru's benefit that he doesn't remember this).

Pru, I'm assuming, ordered the attack on Kiernan so that he wouldn't have his Chronos Key on him during the time shift and then, like Jesse's wife (and maybe Kate), he would never know the shift had happened.

ha! That's the problem with time travel. If you go back in time, don't you automatically (by being there) change the future? And if you change the future, how can you be the person you are today? Isn't it a vicious cycle? ;)

I finally recognized the Kiernan I had grown to love in the first book at about the half way mark. He even got his Irish accent back (which I thought was lacking in the first half of this book).

But anyway, things are finally getting interesting...

Question for those of you who recently finished -- I read it last year:

Was the scene with Kiernan meeting Kate in Fort Myers on the boat (after he hadn't seen her since he was 8 years old in Chicago) in the first book? I don't remember it.

The Kate is older here than the Kate in Chicago (1st book), according to Kiernan, but Kate doesn't remember the Chicago fire...

That means Kate here must be on a different timeline when Kiernan meets her in Fort Myers.

Well, this didn't meet my expectations. Kiernan's character was flat, void of all the personality and passion that drew me to him in the first book.

I got really bored when Kiernan and Simon went traipsing around through time... doing... who knows what... who knows why... and, moreover, who cares?

Hope Time's Edge holds more promise...

I read this on audio and even his voice was not as smouldering as it was in the first book. The narrator of the 1st book was a girl lol

lol! Did she at least have an Irish accent? I don't think Kiernan sounded Irish at all in his choice of vocabulary in this book. He sounded distinctly American.

He didn't sound even a wee bit Irish, lass... ;)
