Another example of unintended consequences of Yeltsin's "privatisation". All the wealth that Russia needs to invest in developing the economy is locked away or dissipated in useless expenditure.
In his case specifically, I'm not sure he benefited from Yeltsin's privatisation, but it is very true that billions, if not trils, of Russian-sourced money sits abroad/offshore, doing nothing and sometimes even has higher chances of being invested in the West rather than in Russia...
I could certainly do something constructive with even an itsy bitsy fraction of that, but alas I can't see it happening. :-(
I have a few bucks to spare. I'm going to the Gulf Coast for a few days, taking my dog and a friend. I'm so sick of seeing the people's money spent on useless crap instead of being spent for their benefit. The money being spent on trying to impeach Trump two years into his presidency could better be spent aiding the less fortunate or on infrastructure or, well, name it. What a waste.
These guys are cheapskates, only 120 mil on a pre-wedding bash:https://www.businessinsider.com/rihan...
If you chose to attend anyway, please, share how it was
If anyone's jet overflying ME, stop by as I'm hitchhiking not to miss the main event: https://www.theguardian.com/world/art...That's a parallel universe for real
There's an unsubstantiated claim that her campaign ended up with a $20 million debt. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/har...We'll have to wait for verification, but she definitely spent $1 billion, which gives me hope that presidential elections can't be bought.
Musk supposedly contributed 200 mil to Donald. We were talking about politicians' dependence on sponsors....

For those unwed the bar is raised a little bit now, but nothing that can't be surpassed really -:)
