Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments Messenger of Truth presents the problems of two very different families, the Beales and the Bassington-Hopes. What qualities make each family appealing? If they were real, which family would you rather associate with, and why?

It is hard to compare really. My heart went out to the Beales - Billy's brother-in-law looking for work, two families living in one home, food being scarce and Lizzie being deathly ill (as well as the rest of the children). They were in appalling conditions and ones that needed to be rectify quickly.

The Bassington-Hopes were going through mourning at a loss of their child/brother. They were going through their own problems but nothing that put them in immediate danger.

I cannot answer the last question.

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments They were both going through the mourning of a loss of a family member but I can’t help feeling that the Beales have it much harder than the Bassington Hopes. Their living conditions and 2 families living in one house.

The Beales are obviously very supportive and caring of each other, no matter what the circumstances. The Bassington Hopes obviously cared for each other but seemed to take each other for granted. Although the Beales were in a hard situation I think I would

I agree with you, Tracey

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments Ha! I just realised my answer was chopped off!

It meant to finish with "rather associate with the Beales".

It's okay, because I still knew what you meant, lol.
