Cappy | 18 comments In my opinion NO. It's not a sprint but a marathon. Not important when you release important that you do. Six months from now you wont remember the release day.

Grace Crandall (gracecrandall) | 108 comments Well, I think it would depend on which social media platform you're most popular on, and when your fans are most active on that site. If you can hit a sweet spot for likes and shares and all that jazz, it could be beneficial. In the end, though, I think Cappy is right. It really depends on how much excitement you've drummed up for the book beforehand, and how well you're marketing it afterward (plus of course, how awesome the book itself is) :)

Although if there is a particular day or time that works better than any other, I'd be head-over heels to know when!

C.M. Herndon (cmherndon) | 10 comments My latest novel Defiant I released on the first Tuesday of the month, which happened to be the first. I chose to release on a Tuesday because thats when most things tend to release, new books, new movies, new music albums, etc. So farthis book has far outdistanced my other novels in sells, but I dont believe the release date was the only factor. Promotions beforehand, marketing after release, book cover, summary on the back cover, even the genre. Its a bit of a tedious line we authors all walk with our books between hope, hard work, and luck.

However, of the three I've published, I found Christmas time to be the worst for sales which was surprising. My two novels that released in the spring did much better in their first month of release. Defiant released the first Tuesday of the month and has done the best. My first novel released close to the end of the month and did okay, and its sequel released the second weekend of December mid week and had a slow start but has been steady in sells ever since.

Hope this helps give you some insight. These are my results, other authors may have different outcomes.

J.M. Garlock | 41 comments I agree w/ most of the comments. After payday is a good time, holidays, big sporting events not a good time. Without going too crazy on the analytics this is what I do: when my sales start to consistently go down I wait before I publish a new book. If I time it right which I sometimes don't do my sales, invigorated by the new book will go up. My situation might be a little different because I do a series. One size does not fit all.
