John Rosegrant | 51 comments I also found the first one "only epic here and there"--so much so that I didn't bother with the rest of the trilogy. Glad to hear you think they're worthwhile.

Arok | 23 comments Guy Kay is a tremendous writer. His books are always informed by incredible attention to detail and reality with just a touch of magic. I read Fionavar when it was first published (and a couple of times since) and it remains my favourite among Kay's books, probably because it was further from reality and had more than a touch of magic. His second major work, Tigana, is also incredible. And for those who wish he had set more in Fionavar ... well, there isn't much, but do read Ysabel.

Beverly (bjbixlerhotmailcom) | 29 comments Kind of late in the month, but I have started The Summer Tree today. I probably will not get to Elantris this month, but it will go on my TBR list.

Beverly (bjbixlerhotmailcom) | 29 comments I finally finished this book. While the premise of 5 young people of Earth being pulled into another world was intriguing, I still did not think this book was nearly as good as any of Tolkien's works. I found it very slow going in some parts, but I enjoyed the section about David (Davor) and the Dalrei people. The ending finally picked up a bit as well.
