Another awesome book by this author, and another excellent addition to this series. It's fantastic getting to see the characters - and their relationships
with one another - evolving throughout the series, as the entertaining and action-packed plot unfolds. If you love dragons, you should definitely consider
giving this one a read.

This is a short prequel novella to the Orphan Queen series. I realized I haven't read any of these, and there are 4, so I decided I would and then reread the series.

I loved this one even more than the first! This is such a wonderfully imaginative concept and world, and it really has that "Harry Potter" feel while reading!

A good installment to the series, but man that ending! Not at all what I was expecting!

This one took place at Oxford.
This was a fantastic conclusion to the series, but I'm so sad its over now. I really enjoyed this series.

Didn't read as much this week as I'd hoped to. Only finished one book in time to review it this week. Also finished "Dark Age" early this morning, but I'll share that review next week. As for the one from this week:

The Selected Poems of K Morris

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a wonderful collection of poems by this author. I remember many of them from other collections I’ve read by him, but didn’t mind reading those
again. It was difficult to pick favourites to mention in this review, because I have half a dozen favourites just from section one (the book is split in
to several sections). I really love the poem “Why Do I Write?” though. “Lost” and “Raining” are also favourites of mine.

This week I finished:

The next prequel novella in this series, and this was one really good! The plot thickens.

I love the feminist themes in this dyspotian/fantasy. This is a duology at the moment, so this was the final book in the series. It did close things up, but there's room for another one or a new spin off series.

I loved everything about this book! The writing, the characters, the fantasy, the plot, the setting. I especially loved that the books were alive and the whole library concept! Wonderful read!

Right now I'm reading and I'm liking it so far. Its definitely intriguing me.

Dark Age
by Pierce Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I'm torn with this book between wanting to give it a full five star rating, and refusing to do so, so I'm giving it 4 stars.
Firstly: WOW! I had to keep putting this book down just so I could catch my breath. Also, this book was certainly well titled, because it really does tell
of dark times for the characters; if you got atatched to characters in previous books, you're going to need a box of tissues handy, because you're in for
an emotional ride. So, I'm sure you're asking why, if I'm saying, "WOW!" am I refusing to give it the full five stars? Because the violence and gore were
plastered across the pages, so to speak, and sometimes it felt like a bit much. Still, it was a great read, and I'm looking forward to the next book.

Nano Z

My actual rating is 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. Honestly, if it wasn't for two issues I have, this book would have stood a chance of being a five star
read. So, why wasn't it? Well, firstly, the "zombies" were being called "meat puppets" even before the main characters new of the cause of them being the
way they were, and it got irritating quickly. Secondly, the writing felt a bit clunky, and there was too much telling, and not enough showing. Other than
those things, this was a fantastic action-packed read, with great characters.

Nano Z: Salvation

Though it was a kind of good read, I wasn't as impressed with this book as I was with the first one in this series. This book suffers from the same issues
the first book has with clunky writing, too much telling instead of showing, and "meat puppets" being an annoying and over-used term. On top of that, there
are a few things that don't make sense with how they happened, and others where the way things lined up was almost too perfect, making it harder to fully
appreciate the story. So, I liked it, but most definitely did not love it.

Nano Z: Oblivion
by Brad Knight
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was a pretty good ending to the trilogy. It still suffers from the writing issues of the first two, but is otherwise a great read, with the potential to be an excellent one with some tweaks to improve the clunky writing issues.

Captives
by Nicholas Sansbury Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was an intense and action-packed story, which I would have gladly read in one sitting if the need to do other things - like sleep - hadn't stopped me from doing so. If you've read and enjoyed the previous books in the series, you're going to love this one. If you haven't, and are a fan of post apocalyptic/dystopian stories, you may want to grab this series.

Finished my re-read of ACOTAR and almost done with ACOMAF. I want to move onto ACOWAR, but I really need to keep reading Circe. However, I think I'm going to read The Bone Houses while also reading Circe because I just got it in my Owlcrate and can't wait to read it.

Journey to the River Sea
by Eva Ibbotson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a captivating and delightful story, with a fascinating plot, and wonderful characters. It's an excellent adventure for children old enough to appreciate it, and those young at heart.

Empowered

I devoured this book in one sitting, and the only disappointing thing was that it ended, so my time with the characters was over again for now. I'm loving seeing this series develop, and the characters in it grow as it does. It's also fascinating learning more about the world the author has created, and its various legends. In short: I'm still loving this series, and would highly recommend it, especially if you're a fan of fantasy and mythology.

For the most part I loved this book. The plot concept was interesting, and the combination of history and science combining to show us glimpses of the society and technology was fantastic. So, why only four stars? For one thing, the semi-finals were almost too detailed, while the finals seemed to hardly
be mentioned, so it would have been nice if those had been a bit more balanced out. Mostly though, my issue is with the main character, who manages to be clever enough to get everyone out of tricky situations, even under circumstances where supposedly none of the others can do anything other than cry and panic at their circumstances, but not smart enough to know when to keep her mouth shut, and when to obey orders and stop pushing her luck, which was a bit annoying, though admittedly not as annoying as her whining and crying when failing to spot the signs she should keep her mouth shut and head down got her in hot water, so to speak. So, a great read, but an annoying main character. Still, I'm eager enough to know what happens next that I'm looking forward to seeing how the series progresses, and eager to continue reading it.
