it is, Makenzie lee recomended it. I actually seen it before but the cover put me off. It looked creepy, though because Death is personified in it, creepy is a logic way to describe it.

Thanks Victoria!! I got one of the books finished! This week, I've been completely absorbed in Instauration (The City Series Book 3) by Sarah Lyons Fleming every night this week after 12 hour workdays. It's over 900 pages but is worth every single minute! I don't want it to end! Best zombie apocalypse book series I've ever read!! This is the sister series to her first trilogy Until the End of the World (Until the End of the World, #1) by Sarah Lyons Fleming . Jen's been waiting for the audiobooks which are released 3 months later. I can't wait that long. I think I may have to read all six books over again after this one! Or at least next year! She's now writing another sister series set in the same world! Squeeeee!!

Me too. The last book I read The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough was just so so hopefully this will be better. I do know Terry is a good author having read a book by him before.

I saw in your review about how the Scottish dialect was an issue. Yeah, if you didn't like that, you won't like the part of the Discworld series that focusses on those characters.

I think I wouldent have minded that as an audiobook but reading it was too difficult for me. Also there were other aspects I dident like. Like I dident hate it, but after page 200 I had to force myself to read on, I just wasent interested anymore, so yes not my book really.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 12932 comments Mod
I haven't updated on here in a loooong time! I think I'll just quickly go through what I read in October:

The Bone Witch (The Bone Witch, #1) by Rin Chupeco -reread-4.5 stars
I just loved this read! So unique, creepy, and just interesting. Can't wait for the sequel, I HAVE to know what happens next!

Ghosted by Rosie Walsh 4 stars
Really good heartbreaking read with some amazing twists!

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making (Fairyland, #1) by Catherynne M. Valente --4 stars
This was so adorable! Kind of a cross between Narnia and Alice in Wonderland.

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney 5 stars
WOAH! Major chills factor! The twists in this was just SO GOOD, I had no idea what to expect next, and it was all done so well. Definitely recommend this thriller!

Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2) by Kerri Maniscalco 5 stars
So many wonderful things to love in this novel! The mystery was fascinating, with true elements of horror that had me gasping! I love Audrey Rose, one of the best MCs I've read in a while, and Thomas adds the snarky humor to the story that has me laughing. And then the romance...it was perfect! Very rich and real, but just a dash of it here and there, keeping the mystery at center stage. I just adore this series!

Because You Love to Hate Me 13 Tales of Villainy by Amerie
Actual rating average off of all 13 stories--3.84
I rounded it up to 4 stars

This is a fun anthology of stories that is all about villains--what's in their heads and what makes them tick. There are all kinds in here--several retellings and origin stories, some mythology, and some modern day stories. There's everything from outright murder to slandering of reputations. These made for some interesting reading! Some I liked a lot better than others, but I do think this one is worth the read if you are interested in villains and retellings at all!

The Black Witch (The Black Witch Chronicles, #1) by Laurie Forest 5 stars
I just adored this fantasy! Such an intricate world with all kinds of politics and problems between regions and races. The misfit characters were awesome, and I love the slow burning romance. New favorite fantasy series!

The Heart Forger (The Bone Witch, #2) by Rin Chupeco 5 stars
This one was even better than the first! Not so much set up and information, could jump right into the action, and there was quite a bit. I love this dark and imaginative series, its such a cool world!

A Study in Charlotte (Charlotte Holmes, #1) by Brittany Cavallaro --reread- 4 stars
This is a really fun mystery series, and those who like a good old fashioned mystery or sherlock holmes-- I would recommend this. Read for the 2nd time, just as good! I'd forgotten a lot of the details, which made the read super enjoyable!

Girl at the Grave by Teri Bailey Black --4 stars
This was a fun little gothic mystery! I never did figure it out. This is more of a mystery than a thriller, but I really enjoyed it!

Fierce Like a Firestorm (Hibiscus Daughter, #2) by Lana Popović --3 stars
I didn't like this one quite as much as the first. I did like the magical world of Death, that was pretty cool, but otherwise not a lot seemed to be happening until the end. The writing is still beautiful, though, and I love the two sisters. I really wanted more Luka in this one though!

The Creeping by Alexandra Sirowy --4 stars
This was a good, creepy mystery! The book dragged in parts, but it was so worth the read, especially for this time of year!

Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #3) by Kerri Maniscalco --5 stars
This was a fantastic new story in this series! I just love Audrey Rose and Thomas, and how dark and sinister these cases are! This one was especially gruesome. I didn't love this quite as much as Dracula, but its hard to beat a sinister castle and forest with all kinds of hidden obstacles and dangers! Super fun read!

So as you can see, I had a really great reading month with lots of mysteries and dark fantasy!

Just started The Crown The Official Companion, Volume 1 Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill, and the Making of a Young Queen (1947-1955) by Robert Lacey and its super interesting so far!

Also going to be starting The Ship of the Dead (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #3) by Rick Riordan

Finished Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak late last night (actually early this AM!), and it was a beautiful story! Takes a while to get into the rhythm of the writing, but once you do, you seriously fall in love with all of the Dunbar boys.

Started an eARC of An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks which I also have in print that I won from Goodreads.

StIll working on Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon on audiobook. Feels like I've been listening to this book for a year or more. Actually I have as I keep putting it aside to listen to shorter books. 😂 One day I may finish.

Update time! I've read so many books so far this month!

The Crown The Official Companion, Volume 1 Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill, and the Making of a Young Queen (1947-1955) by Robert Lacey --4 stars
This was really good, with a lot of factual information and how it related to the show, plus lots of photos. Stills from the show and real life photos as well.

The Ship of the Dead (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #3) by Rick Riordan --4 stars
A great finale to the series, very entertaining.

Broken Prince (The Royals, #2) by Erin Watt --3 stars
This series is a total guilty pleasure read for me. Its like a train wreck honestly.

Lethal White (Cormoran Strike, #4) by Robert Galbraith --5 stars
Another fantastic book in the series! This one was a long one, but I sped through it pretty quickly. Really good mystery, I think the best one yet, and I just adore the characters!

The Warlock (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #5) by Michael Scott --4 stars
This was a reread, a pretty good one! Its been years since I've read this one, so this was a good refresher. I'm now all set to read the final book and finish this series!

The Royal Family A Year By Year Chronicle of the by Parragon Publishing --4 stars
Lots and lots of photos I'd never seen, especially the older ones!

A Touch of Gold (A Touch of Gold, #1) by Annie Sullivan --4 stars
A good retelling of King Midas. Pretty action packed, lots of adventure!

My Plain Jane (The Lady Janies, #2) by Cynthia Hand --4 stars
These books are just hilarious! So entertaining.

Radiant Shadows (Wicked Lovely, #4) by Melissa Marr --4 stars
My favorite book of the series yet!

Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl -- 5 stars
This book was beyond what I was expecting. A great combination of a Time disruption/alternate universe with a mystery/thriller. I loved everything about this read.

King's Cage (Red Queen, #3) by Victoria Aveyard --4.5 stars
Best book of the series so far! This one added a lot of political games, and a lot more world building.

The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock by Imogen Hermes Gowar --3.5 stars
I honestly am still not sure what to think of this one. Great writing and great satire and I was pretty hooked--but I feel like I missed some big point it was trying to make.

As She Ascends (Fallen Isles, #2) by Jodi Meadows --4 stars
Action packed, these books really move, and I love the dragons and the world. I liked Mira a lot more in this as well.
