Yeah Harlee--in my reread, I'm still not loving the Shadow and Bone series. It's alright....but Six of Crows blew me away! I think I finally figured out why.....all the characters in SOC are unique, well-developed characters. Not so much in her first series. Nikolai and the twins are the only interesting characters to me. Mal seems really to be a placeholder/way for Alina to have extra angst. And Alina herself, while she has a dark side, seems to be more of a special snowflake type.

The last book in Shadow and Bone was the best in the series IMO. I think, as a writer, Leigh Bardugo gets better with every book. Nikolai was my fave character in that series, he was the most interesting.

Cool! I'm taking a quick break from it to read a library book
so we might end up reading The Young Elites at the same time!

I agree with your spoiler, David. Don't click, Jenny! Don't click.
Finished My Lady Jane, which I liked and thought was a cute retelling of history. Just started Furthermore and not sure how I feel about it yet. I don't think it has a lot of the strength as the Shatter Me series. But we'll see.
My #AYearathon Kick Off Video is up! What I'm reading right now is in here too :)

In this past week, I read:Endgame (E, #5) by Kate Wrath
The Path of Water (Quests, book 1) by Barbara G. Tarn
The Path of Fire (Quests, book 2) by Barbara G. Tarn
My Vibrating Vertebrae: and other poems by Agnes Mae Graham
Beat The Hackers by Stephanie Dagg
More Tales of the Southern Kingdoms - volume 2 by Barbara G. Tarn
Oh Auntie! by Stephanie Dagg
@Elora I TOTALLY agree with you about the Six of Crows characters being so unique. The first time I read Shadow and Bone I loved it but I reread it to continue the series and didn't love it like the first time and Siege and Storm also fell a bit flat for me. Ruin and Rising was satisfying but also had it's issues.

I just finished my reread of the Throne of Glass books. Now I get to dive into Empire of Storms. Someone hold me, I'm not sure I'm emotionally ready for this haha.
Empire of Storms is here! A discussion on the differences between the books in the series themselves. (And showing off how gorgeous the book is!!)

I know, I know!!!
I know, I know!!!
I finished
last night and I honestly don't know if a book has ever made me as emotional as this one did. Now I'm reading
.
Yesterday I finished
and I really liked it. Felt almost like a fairy tale with mythical creatures!
Also read a quick short story,
which I really loved. Great backstory on the "Wild Poppy!"
Today I finished reading
3.5 stars
My first time reading Nancy Drew in years! I didn't read too many of the classics when I was kid, but I did like this one! It got better as the story went along. I do love how "modern" Nancy really was, this was published in 1930! She even has to change her car tire at one point in this story, and she does it without much fuss! LOVE!

YES!!! Couldn't agree more :) The movie was also a pretty decent adaptation :)

I finished
and liked it! Probably not quite as much as the first two, which were funnier but with less depth, but still, a good read. The end bits reminded me a little of how Percy Jackson books feel.
Now I'm onto another library book I just got at the recommendation of Karen.
A third of the way through and I'm HOOKED.

Jenny, I cheated and watched it first, thinking I wouldn't like the book. Glad I did though, it helped me visualize everything.

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've seen that it's on one of our movie channels this weekend, so I plan to try and watch it.
I think I am the only weirdo out there that only liked the Martian but was not 100% in love with it. Please don't throw things!
