Jeid So, it says: "The knife vanishes as Poppet continues walking, though Chandresh does not notice". What is the significance if this sentence? The knife does not reappear, though I thought it might be used to kill someone. Anyone. Did i miss something important about the knife? Why would Erin remove it from Chandresh's home in the end??

Gerd Not quite sure about it.

It's been a while that I read the "The Night Circus", time for a re-read I guess. I remember that the events, the magic drove Chandresh to insanity by the end.

I always took Poppet's careful removal of the knife as a sign that Chandresh was about to self destruct by this time, but I might be completly wrong with my assessment.

Kelli I think it's because it was covered in Herr Thiessen's blood, and that it (and he) belonged more properly with the circus than with Chandresh. I think it was another loose end for Poppet to tie up, and a way to bring another piece of Herr Thiessen home.

Jo Yea, I agree completely. I figured it would be wise to remove the knife from someone as mentally unstable as Chandresh.

C.E. Crowder Or to remove that bit of evidence as a way of protecting Chandresh from investigation. Seems like there was no police inquiry into the murder?

Peter I thought it was a little odd that he even still had it. A H- pulled it out and gave it to Marco, so Marco must have given it back. Why would he do that? Without even washing it?
